I read he wants a further £100k on top of our proposal. So basically £170k more.

It may all be tabloid talk though.

So that’s £350k, parity with our top earner I think.

In this market place, is that too bad for a player of his calibre?

We’re the 4th richest club on the planet and for me he’s the worlds best right back.

Trent is probably seeking his signing on fee so is probably entitled to that extra money. Anywhere else he bags 15-20m for signing on a free at Madrid for example.

TAA is worth every penny. Best passer in the country by a country mile.

Too many countries in that but never mind.

If he cuts out the slow walking at times then he can have the 350k

Bradley is a better all round player and defender.

Trent is a specialist player like Juninho Pernambucano or a De la Pena or even a David Bentley of sorts. Shame he has the ego of Jude Balondoringham

Let's not disrespect Trent just because the club feked up his contract.

Liverpool in danger of making City’s mistake (and United’s historically) of spending all of their resources on players already into or entering their 30s? What proportion of the wage bill is already taken up by Salah, VVD, Robertson and Allison?

Should they instead be handing TAA what he wants and looking at investing in replacements for some of those pensioners?

Possibly I guess (personally I don’t see it) but there’s hot takes, and there’s hot takes.

On one hand we have the highest assisting defender in history who’s won every trophy with the club and regularly been part of the best defences in England on multiple occasions.

On the other hand we have a kid with 11 Prem starts.

This was always going to be the result.

I think it makes sense, I don't think it really gets any better than this for VVD and Salah in the long term but TAA still has time to experience something different and potentially more successful, with a huge signing-on bonus.

Obviously would be a shame for you but can't imagine many would really begrudge him that move.

Not necessarily. If that puts him on a level with our top earner then it’s a perfectly reasonable request. He’s at his peak and has been instrumental in what success we’ve had.
