Piff, going through similar. I go see her every weekend and she got dementia as well. Recognises me but neither of my 2 brothers. I sit with her for an hour or so while she has conversations with folk who've been deid since before I was born. Asked last week if I'd been in Partick recently. Sad days.
Hard to see people who raised you like that. Saturday or Sunday I go and a dozen beers at least get swallied when I get home.

Sorry to hear this. I haven't really spoken to you before but just replying to this because I've got recent experience with this. My grandmother (Nana) had a few strokes last year and brought this on, and she rapidly forgot who her children and grandchildren (me) were. She'd get us all mixed up or wouldn't recognise us at all. And she was totally fine before the two strokes. For me what was incredible about the whole ordeal before she died was she seemed to still recognise my son, her great grandson. As soon as this little 2 year old kid walked into the room (my son) her eyes lit up and she'd say his name. She couldnt remember the rest of us but it was beautiful and tragic all at the same time

My grandmother, her sister, my dad and my dad's brother all sufferred and died from/with Dementia. All spent their last years in very expensive care homes. (Yet they all stank of pizz so much it made you gag initially as you came out of the lift). When we visited my dad in his home the staff were great and they would introduce me and my brothers to him every time. 'These are your sons' they would say and he would look at us in the eyes and deny any knowledge of our existance. One day, near the end I visited him and when I was saying goodbye to him, he took me to one side and said to me 'can I come back to your house (saying my name) with you and live with you there'. I was totally shattererd by that conversation. He soon died of cancer soon after but I still to this day often wonder if he really did know.

Had both parents in two different old age homes with dementia.
My mom would scold some unseen person for interrupting me when I was speaking.
It was so sad at times I wished it would end
Felt like a bad person at times but I never neglected them or stopped visiting every day after work.

Don't feel bad Mont, you did everything you could. I went through the same with mine, although they were in the same home.
Unfortunately, because I work around the UK, I only got to see them on Saturday and Sunday.
They went within a few months of eachother and without trying to sound heartless, I was happy for them because they were always upbeat and active and would never have wanted to end up the way they did.

Besides, the alternative is bickering and childish insults.

Has Florentino Perez bribed a load of ja606ers to make up for Vini's Ballon d'Or?
While others bleat on about quads they'll only ever win in their dreams, Pels has us strolling to our 6th title of the year.

Thanks, she's got vascular dementia and has nae idea who I am any longer but it is what it is mate, facking horrific disease and on I wouldn't wish on anyone

Piff, going through similar. I go see her every weekend and she got dementia as well. Recognises me but neither of my 2 brothers. I sit with her for an hour or so while she has conversations with folk who've been deid since before I was born. Asked last week if I'd been in Partick recently.Sad days.
Hard to see people who raised you like that. Saturday or Sunday I go and a dozen beers at least get swallied when I get home.

Nothing wrong with bringing it up, so sorry to hear and yeah it's good to talk about it as 4za says.
Besides, the alternative is bickering and childish insults.
