This refusal to acknowledge defensive frailties and basically being a shambles at the back is really ridiculous and bordering on pathetic.
Just tighten things up at the back man. No one is saying stop the attacking play but please don't leave us so open and vulnerable at the back like this fod gods sake.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you just simple. What other defenders does Ange have at his disposal? Vicario, Romero, Micky, Davies, Udogie all unavailable. Yet you think Ange should somehow conjure up an impregnable defence.
Even a simpleton would realise that until all the defenders start to come back, there is not a lot Ange can actually do.
Take the goalie and the best three defenders out if Liverpool, and see how they get on. They conceeded three with their near on best defence on the pitch.
Just give Ange a break, and use a bit if commonsense why the results are so up and down.
I said a while back, until all the best players return it was going to be tough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we have all our best defenders out, which we do, then why he is letting our full backs press the edge of the opposition box. That leaves 2 defenders at the back which over runs us. He leaves 2 "weaker" defenders to defend against 3,4,5 attackers. It's literally embarrasing.
If you have your best players out and have less quality to cover, you adapt to ensure those weaker players are less exposed.
Ange is out of his depth. I'd even go as far as to say he is an idiot. He doesn't coach effectively and his record is diabolical. He is a laughing stock. Every pundit is calling it suicide.
The bloke is done in my book. I don't get how anyone even backs him. 11th in the league, lost 8 games out of 17, only winning 7. Sit outside the automatic places in the Europa League.
How is any fan OK with that?
We have regressed under this manager. It's getting worse and every team loves playing us. Even Ipswich beat us when we were at home.
The sooner he is sacked and we move on the better.

There are 19 other managers in the PL let alone the rest of the world who adapt and arrange their teams when it is clear they have an issue or a deficiency.
Not just blindly do the same thing every game.

This. I’m amazed Sandy can’t see this. It’s not about players being out, it’s about Ange’s inability to make little adjustments to support to those less experienced at the back. Playing exactly the same way regardless of personnel and availability with little to no tactical tweaks is frankly arrogant, bordering on suicidal. It’s the premier league. You need more than one way of playing. Honestly, the arrogance of the guy to come over and assume he doesn’t need to change or make tweaks in the same way every single other manager that has crossed these shores has. (Puts his hand to his head for a moment) I think I have been really patient the last 18 months sitting up here answering the same questions over and over again. If people want me to change my approach, it’s not going to change. We are doing it for a reason, we are doing it because we think it will help us to be successful. If people don’t understand the circumstances we are in at the moment, the challenges we have from a squad perspective which are as obvious as you want to make them. I get the idea that people think that I should just flip a switch and change and somehow that will miraculously make us a better team. It is what it is. This is one of if not the biggest myths in football. Ask people to name 3 times when Spurs bottled it and you usually get a handful of games where we have gone 3-0 up and not won or the Leicester season where we were the only other side who put up a fight - people conveniently forget that United/City/Chelsea/Liverpool were nowhere to be seen that season either.
I can think of just as many times where United have bottled it - Ferguson letting an 8 point lead slip with 6 games to go, losing to Villarreal in the Europa final, letting Coventry City come back from 3-0 down, getting done 4-0 at MK dons - and that’s just United.
This whole Spurs thing came about in Daniel Levy’s tenure and it only describes his time at the club - pre his arrival we were the 4th most successful side in England in terms of total trophies and 3rd for European trophies. First side to win the double, last non league side to win the FA cup, only us and United had won a trophy every decade.
Then a huge change occurred - City and Chelsea had unearned lottery wins and Daniel Levy bet the house on our stadium giving us financial parity.
The bottling thing is bollox though, bottling is what Arsenal are doing this season - the one year City fall away and they can’t win at home to Everton.

The funny thing is he doesn't have to totally go against his attacking style, just needs a step back and to react to situations.
He needs a strong #2 with a bit of defensive nous and to listen to them.
He has backed himself into a corner, though, and it doesn't seem he can change.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly right.
The problem is this outback idiot doesn't understand that he needs to modify his game plan for situations that develop on the pitch, and for the quality of the opponents.
Its one thing to hammer Southampton. Totally different to try playing the same way against Liverpool.
Liverpool could have, and should have, scored about 8 goals. Some of their misses were laughable.
But you just can't play a high line where you CB's are ahead of you full backs, and not get scored against!
I just wonder if Aussieglue has even one game plan, let alone two?
Tottemham looked like a rabble out there until perhap minute 75 when they got some semblance of an attack plan going. Prior to that it was.....
"boot the ball upfield to Kulushevski and let him try to beat his double team defenders."
I felt sorry for Gray and Spence, and Kulu, all of them played well. Maddison did what he could. Son could make no progress against his double team. Simply put, our midfield was out matched, and our defending was dismal.
