Tottenham v Wolves Match Thread

Great point today to keep our run going. Despite some of the comments on here I thought Hwang had a decent game today and it was possibly the best goal he’s scored for us.

Sa on the ground was a nervous wreck today but his keeping was good. Him and Dawson seemed determined to give a goal away. Bellegarde also poor. Positive performances from Andre, Joao Gomes, Semedo, Doherty, Santi, Guedes, Forbes and well taken goal by Larsen. Good to get a result despite resting a few players

Spurs missed chances to go 3-1 ahead but we got on top in the last 15 minutes and could even have won it.

Yes it was a really good goal from Hwang, but don't remember him doing much else of note.

Hwang wouldn’t be in my first choice team but by his standards he looked ok today. His movement and workrate was good and he looked really fit. Decent option from the bench on that showing although I wouldn’t turn down a decent offer for him in Jan.

Loads of Koreans in the crowd today and they saw a good goal from Hwang and a penalty miss and poor performance from Son

Two poor performances from the Koreans today.

Other than a great finish, Hwang offered next to nothing in open play. Impossible to argue otherwise.

Son is a busted flush imo. Can’t recall the last impressive performance he put in?

If a decent offer comes in for Hwang, just where is my keys?

Yep. That’s Vitor averaging 2. Oh 3 points a game. If we continue that ratio we should be safe.

Hello Bute, hope all's well up there. Spoke to a lady on the train last week who said she used to work in the Molineux hotel when she was 17 and waited on Sammy Chung and his team quite regularly. Bit after your time maybe?

Bute, are you the ghost of Christmas’s past?

A good performance all round, but our frailties from corners are still with us. Have to agree, that apart from his well taken goal, Hwang didn't offer much else. I think Guedes is improving every game and he ran his socks off, so I hope he get's he nod ahead of Hwang next up. Not sure Bellegarde will get many starts, perhaps in a cup game or two.

Gomes and Andre are cementing their places in midfield and RAN had his best game for quite a while. Not sure how Larsen found the net from that angle, but what a strike.

What a difference Vitor has made and we are getting much more possession and our overall play is a pleasure to watch.

Up next...Forest at home, who are on song right now.

Fancy we can do Forest. Doing well in typical Nuno fashion, wouldn't be surprised if we cancel each other out if we can just keep Wood off the end of crosses.

Hwang is just a poor player for the most part and should never be a starter for us at all.

24 total touches today in around 80 mins.

Hwang played yesterday because there was injury concerns about Guedes and Larsen and they needed to be rested. That was compounded by Cunha needing to go off at half time. These kind of problems are not rare during the xmas and new year schedule and most clubs will have rotated their squad. Hwang scored an excellent goal and proved a decent stand in on the day, certainly better than Bellegarde. He won’t have overtaken any of our first choice strikers as a first choice but as things stand he is next in line

I thought Joao Gomes just about edged our man of the match yesterday. It was actually two of his mistakes that sit in my mind from the game. On one occasion he misplaced a pass to leave Spurs to attack down the right. But he sprinted back thirty yards, won the ball back and set up a counter attack. On another occasion he went into a tackle but didn’t succeed in winning the ball. He then fell to the ground and started punching the ground in frustration.

Great character and a vital member of our team.

Ryan Ait-Nouri clear man of the match for me and evidently most others. Back to his very best, clearly playing in a system that gets the best out of him.

Dawson very shaky yet again, hopefully we don’t see him starting many more games next year.

We urgently need a centre back in January, evidently Vítor has already identified one or two options. It will be six months late, but better late than never……

Fosun Out. “I don’t care about Jeff Shi”

Wolves played in their very colourful purple and orange strip yesterday. Have wondered where the idea came from for such an unusual colour mix. Not sure if there’s any connection but before Xmas I went to Salford Quays and the walls of the shopping centre there are painted in the same colours

Didn't read about any injury concerns over Guedes or Larsen and Guedes ran his socks off yesterday. So they were probably just rested. Hwangs goal was from the training ground and if they tried that again, the chances are he wouldn't score.

In Cunha we have one of the best finishers in the league, but what does go un-noticed is his willingness to get back and defend. He took a knock yesterday and had an ice pack on, so if his suspension comes through, let's hope they coincide.

Guedes and Larsen were rested because of injury concerns. Wolfie didn’t read it so it probably isn’t true. But nevertheless Pereira confirmed that in his post match press conference.

Larsen’s finish was excellent but it was from a tight angle and if he tried it again the chances are he wouldn’t score.

Noticeable how much work Cunha does getting back to defend, however his 45 minutes yesterday weren’t his best and he gave the ball away more than usual

You guys have a genuine world class player in Cunha and don’t see you keeping him for next season

He reminds me of dembele more and more I see him…..he will end up a centre midfielder as he is a complete player

Can see city , Liverpool or Arsenal going for him ….could be part of a city rebuild

He will certainly make you a hundred million ….going on the prices paid these days

posted 5 days, 19 hours ago

Zero chance Cunha ends up playing as a central midfielder.

posted 5 days, 18 hours ago

It would be a waste of his main attributes to play Cunha in midfield. He is at his best attacking the penalty area from deep or wide, playing behind a centre forward. More like Salah or Thierry Henry etc

Wolves have been in need of a new centre back, or maybe two, since we sold Kilman. So it shouldn’t be a case of going shopping now, you would hope we already have someone lined up. Be disappointing if we don’t have someone through the door before the Forest game.

I think you could be underestimating the level of incompetence that Jeff Shi and Matt Hobbs are currently operating at.

Main names being touted are Joel Ordonez from Club Brugge and Kevin Danso from Lens. Danso may be classed as home grown I think as he was at both MK and Reading as a kid

Interested to read about the process that’s undertaken before a suspension is given following a charge by the FA. Similar charges have been brought against Kudus, Gibbs White and Bentancur. In each case it took a few weeks. Kudus was suspended two weeks after his appeal, Gibbs White 3 weeks and Bentancur 7 weeks. It has now been nearly two weeks since Cunha’s appeal date

You could be right Goldi, as he was at MK Dons for more than 3 years and went to Germany when he was 16. Can play in a back 3 or 4 and is the middle one in a 3. Over 6'2", but could cost over 20m euros.

posted 5 days, 14 hours ago

€20m is a good deal for Danso. ๐Ÿ‘
