Hmmph, I'll be off then.......
hi starrover.
Yep I know it's a difficult world now. So with the demise of the BBC 606 last May there so many sites springing up, before and after that moment - I counted well over a dozen 'newbies' and that's not including blog sites - so I suppose in retrospect it was obvious that not all of them would be able to maintain a good basic number of users for each club. And lately ... it has all come to nothing; the little bubble gently inflating has burst, and there are no comments AT ALL being made on many other sites, specially for the majority non-premiership teams. Unfortunately this is therefore the case for most other championship clubs.
So I draw the conclusion that the share out of the BBC cake is in reality helping almost no-one.
Are fans turning to specialist club boards rather than forums as we knew them? For example, in Reading the Royals Rendezvous at www.royalsrendezvous.co.uk is indeed doing very well, but of course it's 'only' dedicated to a single club.
Having said all that, JA 606 survives better than most, and any comment/s that Burnley fans could make would be most welcome as i said in the initial article!
My excuses I left Mr Exiled out I forgot our number is growing slowly but surely.
No worries star, it's not the first time (and I'm sure not the last) that I've been snubbed by a Rover
Just read your article daib0....thought it was a good unbiased read
I try to make it fair as always Exiled! Our forum got off the ground at last Christmas, before the BBC606 closure was announced. Ironically enough, we were so angry at the infested wum-ming and multiple identities on our BBC board that a hard-core group of us set up the specialist RFC site, and within a month about a hundred BBC606 (Reading board) regulars had joined us together on Royals Rendezvous.
Well, I mention it because after having 'suffered' intense wum-ming on the Beeb we're hardly likely to give it back to other clubs now we're 'free' !
Should be a good game for both sets of fans, will be hoping the Clarets can keep the momentum for the last two games going and run out 3 - 1 winners.
It will take time for the MB to keep going, 606 was only frequented by a small handful for the longest of time, Broxi being one of the few. Suppose other things in life replace the time we spend on a site, also helped when we were in the Prem and getting to see games was a lot easier for the off shore fans.
And the ones stuck in Wales Ont's We do have TV here now though. Should be a good game, hoping for plenty of attacking football.
