Yes Batts I hope we can get him because if Shef Utd or Burnley sign him it will just make our task so much harder but with him I reckon he will be a real asset and although Piroe can be hot and cold he probably for the time being has earned his right to be Farke's starting forward but this Barry kid amongst our ranks it might even help Joseph improve who unfortunately seems to have lost his spark and fans high hopes for him have fizzled out too so whether he needs a loan move to recapture his confidence or he stays to fight it out with hopefully this new exciting Villa protege and Piroe we'll see if the owners think like a lot of us on here do and give us that January new player upfront boost we've been waiting so long for.

Boro and Sunderland linked and Boro signed Azaz from Villa last Jan so we could be up against it.

Others available id like to see us go for; Evan Ferguson on loan, if not, Brereton Diaz on loan could be good although I suspect Sheff Utd would have something to say about that.

Think we need a CF and a CB, possibly a 10 unless we play Rothwell there should Aaronson be unavailable.

Currently linked to;

Nico Elvedi - Monchengladbach (CB) Only wants prem team so not likely in Jan

Diego Luna - Real Salt Lake (10)

Andrew Omobamidele - Forest (CB) Ticks a few boxes

Noel Törnqvist - Mjallby (GK) Kelleher alternative

Caoimhin Kelleher - Liverpool (GK)

If there's a Liam Delap clone out there, wouldn't mind
that clone either. Delap is a profile we need. He plays
in beast-mode every game.

Would love him in our side. But, no chance in hades.
He'll be at another Prem team soon. Would not be
shocked to see him signed by Chelsea.

I just hope we recognise the need to bring players in. Not necessarily for January or February, but for that final dozen or so games when key players are carrying knocks, and have had too much playing time.
If Buendia is fit, he would tear this league apart, but it’s a big ‘if’. James McAtee looks like a fantastic prospect, but if he goes out on loan, it will more likely be to a team in a higher league than ours. And yes, Caomhin Kelleher would be an amazing steal.
Our weakest link is our keeper. He’s flappy, biscuity, and plays with porridge in his boots, so for me, if we get Kelleher, that’s an extra 6 points by the end of the season.
However, the most important team member is someone who is already on our books. Nick Hammond has brought in an array of talent for a ridiculously small outlay. So long as he is pulling the recruitment strings, we don’t have any worries about whether we get the right players. I think we will see at least one recruit none of us are expecting, who will go on to drive us into the Premier League.
Happy New Year everyone, we’re going up, so let’s enjoy the ride.

I agree with you, but let's be honest, there's a bloody strong chance that in 6 months, we'll be in there ourselves. Worth the gamble imo. The German lad Elvedi has reportedly stated the same, only joins if we're in the prem

Can’t buy anyone as unlikely you are going to find premier league quality on our current budget and if we do not go up we would be in a deeper mess than what it’s going to be should we fail this season. No point bringing in championship level players at this stage on permanent deals.

Has to be the loan market but the issue here will be the same as last season with Carvalho. Parent clubs want their players playing. We can’t guarantee players like Barry (untested at this level) Buendia (not played senior football in ages) first eleven football more times than not and therefore the parent club is unlikely to agree the loan move.

I think we have enough depth personally to win the league as we are. Keep the pennies locked up for the summer as we are going to need them for different reasons promoted or not.

Unless possibly there is an another Guilavogi type player out there who is prepared to come in for rest of season and add some experience/depth to help us over the line without us spending much money.

Shaun, if Sunderland Louie Barry they'll be a mare
for anyone playing them. They play some lovely football.
Fast, incisive, clever, fearless. Great to watch.

'Open Sesame'

I read somewhere lately that this isn't even a word .. its supposed to be 'open says me', apparently?!

anyhow... please please lets not be wanting to sign every man and his dog. we are top of the league and exercised our squad muscles over the Christmas period...

if anyone at all, one signing, the player we want, if he's not available... nothing !!

we will win the league regardless this year I think... lets not put on anymore financial pressure. nor do we want to have too much in wages on the bench.... its not championship manager <LIW shrug smiley>

So, just to be fully clear here farkeness.... you want us to sign utterly quality players, where we'll pay em good wages... but we won;t play them?, we'll only play them for the last month or so ?

all whilst keeping the current squad happy, keeping these wonderful new players on the bench for 3 months?, keeping with FFP rules?

and you can't see anything wrong with that?

It would take 3-4 weeks before they could play the Leeds way, so they would be introduced gradually, Mont, but the immediate effect on the squad would, I think, get players fired up even more. They would see the club backing up its commitment to getting promoted with action. Just look how Sarmiento and Moore helped Ipswich last season.
As I said, we saw how inaction in the window last year cost us badly. One or two key players would make a statement, and a difference.
