We are in a great position but I just hope games like yesterday don’t come back to haunt us. Away at a team in bottom 3, 3-1 up with 15 minutes to go…3 points don’t get easier than that.
That was our issue last year, we beat top 2 home and away but dropped points against likes of Rotherham.
Frustration is what I’m feeling. From what I’ve watched and what the performance stats say, we have been by far the best team in league in terms of creating chances, dominating games and conceding chances. But we find ourselves just 1 point clear because of 2 horrendous keeping errors and multiple other soft goals that other keepers save. We should be 6 points clear and that wouldn’t be undeserved.

I could be generous to Farke and say there has been a 'blindspot' where Meslier is concerned for some time. You can have all the dominance of play and top every stat and metric going but if your keeper lets in the sort of goals he has over a sustained period of time it is going to hurt you and we are seeing that starkly now.

Best, Rob, really great comments both. We should indeed be several points clear at the top (4 points lost to 90th minute goals in last 2 games for starters) and DF really has to earn his corner now as to what he does with Meslier.

There's not really much we can do without a better goalkeeper to hire though.
Perhaps Red Bull could give him a can or two to wake Meslier up a bit?
posted 3 days, 1 hour ago
We could easily be on 60+ points. I can only recall one game where we came off the field lucky to get the points - Watford with their goalkeeper gifting us 2 goals.
A combination of Farke/Meslier have cost us far too often.

Just seen a video of the goals we have conceded this season.
Absolutely horrendous.
Apart from the massive blunders.
The amount of maybe some other keeper could have save it, is huge.
Not mistakes, but not impossible to save

Thing is he hasn't improved at all. If anything he's got worse. You could almost forgive the errors a few years ago because you'd think 'well he'll improve with age'. Fact is hes a very average keeper. We need better
Wonder whether this makes Fraser Forster more available? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c8xjzvgwe8jo

Spurs first choice keeper will be out for a while, no way they will let Forster go
posted 2 days, 23 hours ago
But.
Any 2nd choice keeper should be looking at leeds and thinking, hang about if I go there I can be first choice and be playing prem football with them next season
posted 2 days, 23 hours ago
Forster, are you insane he's worse than Meslier. Just watch his performance against Man United
posted 2 days, 23 hours ago
I don’t think we sign anyone.
We have to hope either Darlow comes in against Harrogate and keeps his place or Meslier comes back in and has little to do. We had the run of games earlier this season where he barely had a shot to deal with.
I think there comes a point where you just have to give someone else ago, like with BPF and Wieldwald, Kiko and Meslier. Because it can’t be worse. Darlow comes in and worst case scenario, he’s just as bad. He can’t be worse.

We may be in a better position than last season but we then went on a run of 13 wins and 2 draws in the next 15 games. So maybe not as good as you think.

Sheff U and Burnley between them have the two best keepers in this division. Burnley has the best defensive record. Both have their parachute payment advantage.
Window is open. If they flex their financial muscle,
and we decide to roll the dice with what we have,
things could chsnge in a hurry.
This is our last best chance to go up. We should be sitting on 60+ points. We're not. If Farke and club
fck around much more, it might not be so cut and dry.

Burnley have just got Barnes in.
That tell you exactly where they are in terms of finances
posted 2 days, 22 hours ago
If by end of window Barnes is all they added, agreed.
If Sheff U add next to nowt. Agreed again. If Sunderland
don't add anyone, same applies. And if we don't add
on top of all that, we will continue to be in and around
top spot. Agree on all that.
However, window is open for quite a while yet. Let's
see how everyone looks at that point - injuries
included.
