Things should start turning a corner

I've changed my mind again. I'm happy to back Ange and blame the injuries, provided there's a real upturn in performances when they come back. If we get all our players back and we're STILL routinely giving the opposition chance after chance, I'll be asking for him to get the bullet. As it stands, it's clear that the players haven't downed tools. They're still playing for him.

The part I found interesting on Saturday was Joe Hart talking about Ange's time at Celtic. He said that fans are mad to think that he's blindly playing his way without doing any opposition work at all. Every week they'd get different tactical instructions on the opposition depending on their strengths/weaknesses. So it sounds like it's not just turning up on a Saturday and telling them to do more of the same. It's hard to see that, personally, but then that's why I'm a fan and not an expert.

I'm expecting a massive turnaround in form from Feb onwards. If we don't, he'll really be under pressure.

In response to what a few others have said, the reason why a lot of fans have lost faith in Ange is not really down entirely to form, although that is a big chunk. Most fans are tiring of his inability to adapt in trying situations. Injuries are part and parcel of football and it's something every club has to navigate a certain periods. To blindly continue playing brave football with a defence made up of midfielders and kids is just suicide. We have Gray, an 18 year old midfielder playing centre back. The instruction of the left fullback should be to support his teammate, not continuing to bomb on and leave him exposed. It's speaks of Ange's desire to play football the way he wants it played rather than setting up to win specific games. That lack of adaptability is what really annoys the fanbase more. Throughout history football has evolved, formations and systems have changed. So why is it so important to stick to one way? If teams press in the knowledge that we like to play out, stick a few over the top to take advantage of the areas on the pitch they've left exposed. The best teams mix things up. I just wish he'd embrace that a bit more and rather than look at it as a betrayal of principles, look at it as another weapon in your arsenal. Sticking to one way might make you an expert at it but if it gets found out, as it has been, you're totally fecked.
