Mad a team has gone over halfway through the season without a one goal win. It isn't news to anyone that if keep in touch with Spurs they will give you chances to score and win/draw games other teams would have seen out.
Gonna be fascinating to see what we do in the window. I think the club are committed to Ange & love the idea of what he represents but at some point we all know its a results based business. Things might improve with some new players and a healthier squad but its a heck of gamble to keep committing to something that isn't delivering and a manager who steadfastly believes in "more of the same".
As much as Ange wants us all to believe he's a born winner I think the club need to see results in the top level games in the Prem. At the moment all Ange is doing is proving how weak the Scottish league is. He was outclassed playing this way when playing in the CL with Celtic and now the same thing is happening at a higher level with Spurs.
We'll see....Perhaps 2 tight & scrappy results Vs the Liverpool & Arsenal could be the turning point but it's hard to see regardless of who plays.
United got a brilliant result against Liverpool but it was built on a great defensive effort and disrupting their MF... Personally, I'm not sure Ange knows how or is even willing to try and do something similar.
Would love to try and keep it tight and stay in the tie for a long as possible and if we are still in with a shot, Give it go late in the second leg but I fear we could be 3-0 down at HT tomorrow with the tie lost before we even have a chance to win it
Only time will tell.

It doesn't really surprise me because the nature of Angeball is such a lottery that you can never really be sure what result you're about to face. The only certainty we have is that we score goals. We're so open that, of course, we're going to concede and lose as many games as we win. That's a nature of a coin toss. I guess the only reason for the skewed numbers is that although we concede a lot, we tend to still only lose by one goal or so.
I do think it is a tactical issue rather than solely about injuries and personnel. It remains to be seen whether improvements in the transfer market will finally halt the leaks or whether it's the fundamental tactical ethos that's the issue. I think if your tactics require the greatest players in the world, it's a system flawed if you're in charge of Spurs. There's nothing wrong with having those tactics. I think Pep shares the same but the difference is that he has always had world class talent to call upon. A level of pragmatism is almost a prerequisite of the job at Spurs.
In many ways we criticised the appointments of Jose and Conte because they were chequebook managers but, in truth, the same is true of Ange. Not because HE demands it, but because his tactics do. I'd love to how he thinks he can achieve success at Spurs with our budgetary restraints.

You, the fans, and I say this as someone that has a big soft spot for Tottenham for many years, youre so impatient for success you chase the managers who dont instantly deliver. That's fine if you're Chelsea who don't baulk at sacking managers but then back the new guy, Spurs won't do that, they need a long term plan with consistent leadership but the fans won't allow it a d Levy won't follow the Chelsea model.

Not sure what you're getting at..... Spurs fans know better than anyone that we're not Chelsea.
Nobody is questioning the need for need a long term plan with consistent leadership I think the question Spurs fans are raising is whether Ange is the right manager to back (we probably need something in the middle between the pragmatism and need for cash of Conte & Jose and the reckless "we'll score more than you" approach of Ange. Add to the fact we have had long term ownership under Enic and despite the strong financial position the club finds itself in, we are nothing more than also rans in terms of on field success.
Theres plenty to question about Spurs in both Ange's 18 months and Enic's 20+ years

We know a lot more about our club than you do mate. We've no problem with patience, we've shown more than most clubs. Christ, we've won one league cup since Levy took over so please, spare us the patience lecture. We define the feckin word.
Now if you're talking specifically about Ange, there's a whole host of reasons why the patience is wearing thin and a lot of them are valid. A lot of fans look at the tactical set up and think that no matter if we get more luck with injuries, the system is flawed if you don't have the best players in the league. So there's recognition that this might not just be about patience. It's about something that can't be solved with time, not in the Premier League. It's all very well coming on here as a Celtic fan. Eventually Ange's tactical set up was going to work in the SPL because you're the best team in the league with the most resources and the best players. You can't possibly apply the same logic to Spurs.

This is true. Been telling posters on here to stat humble for yonks.
We're minus 11 points down on the previous season for equivalent fixtures which is perhaps a better reflection. Obviously last season's points total at this stage is a bit more skewed after the fantastic start (new manager bounce) we had. I never expected us to replicate that in all honesty.
Yes it isn't just the energy levels dropping. I think all too often opposition managers have come organised with a game plan and we've played into their hands. Strong organised defences have stifled us. Admittedly that has been a problem for us before but it's the way we've then got countered and defensively exposed as a result. I'd never seen a team give away so many chances at the end as we did to Bournemouth and we were the ones chasing that game. I know we have Arsenal next but even Everton after that is going to be problematic with how Dyche sets them up.

Lovely - if that's what you want
I think most of us who have questioned Ange would just like him to tweak things given injuries, players of form etc to allow us to stay in a game/ win a close one or pick up the odd draw... Its impossible to ever gain any kind of momentum with such a feast or famine approach.
It doesn't always have to be perfect, just a bit of in game management, knowing when to slow things down, Get to HT with a lead etc could make such difference. The way we play is just brainless.
We give up the opening goal, throw away leads and score goals when the game is gone like no team Ive seen since the days of Ardiles.. The league is marathon.. Ange treats it like some kind of Pre season All star game

I also think that people get too triggered by Ange. If some expect him to come out and say "yeah that tactics are wrong, our approach is wrong etc" then do not hold your breath. The media and pundits are very lazy in the way they assess things. Watching the Arsenal game at the weekend, twice they played themselves into trouble at the back and conceded chances....There was no massive deal made out of it but when Spurs do it , its seen a big problem and a huge deal made out of it. 3 nil vs Utd, there was nothing wrong with how we were playing and Forster dropped 2 bollox and gave a defeated opposition huge hope.
The other thing about Ange is that he is not wildly different to most top managers. In public they will not say anything that may undermine the total belief his players must have in the system. Buying into the system is everything, if he responds to a journo saying "yeah mate, the systems flawed" then its game over. He's gonna back it publicly and i think a lot of people don't like how he does this.

The problem we have is that those impatient fans don't believe we will ever deliver under current ownership.
So really they are in a constant cycle of having little hope. You can only have your hopes crushed so many times!
My view is that clubs go through pretty clear cycles. All i expect and hope for is we take the next step. Under Poch we got so far, very close to the very top, but couldn't take the next step. For Ange he picked up a club in a mess, with an aging, average to poor squad. Some think the next step from that is success, it isnt IMO, there is a lot of work to be done before we can expect success. The question right now is can Ange take the nest step and that is far from certain. We have seen glimpses of how good it could be but not enough but right now, given the depleted squad, its not possible or right to judge whether he can deliver. We'll know more as the season progresses. But any manger that comes in will take on a very decent squad, that is incomplete and full of injuries and it wouldnt be right to judge them until much further down the line.
We will have to end the season well to restore faith that this can work

100% Right.... I don't expect Ange to come out and say he got it wrong. He doesn't need to... He's human and like everyone makes mistakes. Where he makes life difficult for himself is with some of things he says. He can come across a horribly arrogant for someone who's never managed in the Prem and frankly has a poor track record when playing in the CL. He could instruct the back for to play a little deeper, FBs to hold their position against fast break teams now and again and for the CMs not to press restlessly making us easy to play through on the break and the results would be there for all to see. Hell... Just being a bit more respectful and trying to "stay in the game" against quality opposition would be start. The Liverpool game was an utter joke considering our injuries. Anyone clinging to the positives of scoring 3 when we conceded 6 (and it should/could have been 10) it's just buying into this nonsense that winning football can be played like this. It can in school yards & in Scotland only !!!!... Years ago, Fergie said "lads it only Spurs"....Ange is currently making a great man/ winning manager look even wiser
Forest have scored like 13 goals less than Spurs, but have 16 more points. Sure they are doing well, but by God they must be as boring as feck to watch, having only scored 29 goals in 20 games. Spurs for me all day long.
I have been firmly behind Ange and I have advocated that he should be given until the end of this season before he is judged. I still stand by that, but I am beginning to have my doubts about him.
I feel that his post match interviews are becoming a bit embarrassing and he's showing to the World (and the squad) that the pressure is getting to him.
The only thing that will vindicate his approach is if he starts getting consistent results. He badly needs a change in fortunes and I hope he gets it.

This is wrong Dev. The perception we’re inpatient puts the onus on us when, in actual fact, we’re all more than prepared to play the waiting game. The truth is that most fans are disillusioned with the intentions of the board. After 20 years, we no longer believe that they want the success us fans do. We came close under Poch and whether it was a failure at board level or coaching staff, we refused to build when it mattered. So I think if you get close and don’t go the extra mile, most fans have lost faith that ENIC really want it. If someone said to me, give us five years and we’re going to build a side that can truly challenge for titles, I’d happily sit tight and wait. We just don’t believe it’ll happen because ultimately there’s a financial ceiling that prevents us from getting there. It’s got nothing to do with patience. Ange isn’t really important in this debate because frankly I’m not sure it matters who’s on the touchline. The obstacles are higher up.

That's fine if you're Chelsea who don't baulk at sacking managers but then back the new guy, Spurs won't do that, they need a long term plan with consistent leadership but the fans won't allow it a d Levy won't follow the Chelsea model.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure what you're getting at.....

Your wins this season:
4-0
3-1
3-0
4-1
4-1
4-0
5-0
Mad a team has gone over halfway through the season without a one goal win. It isn't news to anyone that if keep in touch with Spurs they will give you chances to score and win/draw games other teams would have seen out.

Team that turns up when they feel like it....

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think this is very fair.
