Not exactly the most reliable source. I'm sure to Auba letting him break rules would have been a good way to manage his big personality.

I think it's still too early to say he's not the one, when you consider where we came from. So far he's overcome most obstacles and moved us forward, with this season being the first one where we're looking worse.

Luck has played a part, as has fatigue, imbalanced squad building and no tactical fluidity going forward. Some of this stuff can be laid at his door, some can't. I think he's earnt the right to have a go at fixing us and bringing us back stronger, like he has in the past.

If he's showing no signs of being able to do that in a years time then I think that's the time when we have to be thinking about pulling the trigger. In the meantime it's fair to ask questions of him.

When you look at your squad I think he has you punching above your weight. It ain't special at all.

Part of that is his fault, we've got a very talented defence but half of them always seem to be injured. That means we haven't build a balanced squad with depth along the frontline.

He should take some responsibility for that.

Team looks tired and out of ideas. In reality apart from Saka that's the strongest lineup we can put out. He's done a good job to get us back up near the top and we've been close but not close enough. There will probably be those who say your lucky you could be in United or Tottenham's position the thing is we've done our time in that position we've gone through that pain now is the time to deliver. Irrespective of where we finish we clearly aren't going to win the league then his position should be looked at.

Three quarters of it is good enough the forward line is the problem which is his responsibility and he has neglected that.

I don’t understand why Arsenal have made so few attacking signings under Arteta.

I'm not sure, our defence being constantly injured hasn't helped but I think we've only made like 6 attacking signings and that includes stuff like Sterling, Willian, Marquinhos.

We were lucky with Saka and Martinelli coming through so that explains it to an extent but overall we've been pretty negligent in ignoring it. We took a risk with it for a long time and it's finally come back to bite us this year, to the surprise of no Arsenal fans.

And then hilariously spent stupid money on Havertz. It’s really poor recruitment.

I said it start of season. 700 mil to play like stoke!

Should’ve strengthened the attack last summer, it was blatant. Just need an Isak or someone of his quality and this team will all of a sudden look miles better. But unfortunately it’s the Wenger era stuff again, relying on what we have.

He is clearly afraid to invest in the attack.

Yeah I think Havertz would have been a decent signing if he didn't cost so much and take up so much in wages.

I get the signing in general but I don't get why he was the player we were convinced to take such a hit on as our attacking signing.

Well that would have been a moronic thing to say considering we scored the most goals of anyone in 2024, scoring all manner of goals. We've just relied on set pieces for the last month.

Yeah you needed a game changing attacker to supplement Odegaard and Saka. Havertz was never going to be that player.

Two big home games to come now. First United in the FA Cup and then Port Vale - I mean, Tottenham - in the derby.

Can understand Arteta wanting to make mainly defensive signings for his first years. We were a mess defensively when he came in, and he had to fix that as a priority, which he did manage to well. But that’s been pretty consistently solid for 2 seasons now, and we’ve not been able to add the quality upfront to take advantage of having a good defensive.
Too much of our attack working well was based on certain players and a certain selections being consistently available. Now we’ve not had that it has fallen well off, and this was obviously in the post. The club has tried and failed to go after strikers, so I think they know we need to strengthen there, but as forwards are the most expensive players, we never seem to want to take the risk to spend big there. But we really do have to focus on the forward line now. There’s not much point having a good defensive if you can’t score enough

Our defenders love defending too but our attackers look kinda bored and uninspired, like we don't really have any freedom to try things or maybe they've forgotten how to be creative.

I wouldn't say the recruitment has been bad under Arteta. Ben White, Partey, Odegaard, Jesus, Zinchenko, Jorghino, Rice, Timber, Raya.

You can question one or two there now but there's np doubt when he bought them, they made you move forward.

The problem is no doubt that he's fcked up with not getting in a proper CF but the players brought in at various stages have been well thought out.

I don't know what it is about Arteta (I don't think it's the recruitment) but he's in danger of becoming the man who established Arsenal in the top 4, but couldn't take you any further.

Maybe Artitler’s overtrained them and they’ve lost that bit of spark as a result? Bit like Grealish at City.

I think all in all the recruitment has been good on an individual basis, it's just not been balanced throughout the squad.

Maybe Darren, IMO we need two exciting attacking players to liven things up again.

Yeah no excuse for the club to not go out and do that this summer.

Yeah I'm not sure if we were confined by PSR this summer, or if we were just trying to set ourselves up well for the future, but selling ESR and bringing in Sterling really seemed like a gamble and it hasn't paid off at all.

But yeah it's pretty obvious what we need in the summer now. 3 signings, all need to be high quality.
