Klinsmann, the last current world class player we signed. I’m still in disbelief that he came. One of the happiest days of my spurs supporting life, seeing that headline in teletext

That's the time I started to watch football and support Spurs.

Absolutely gutted when he left for Bayern after 1 season, I think in hindsight he also admitted he shouldn't have left so quickly.

Then he came back and helped us stay up.

Madness.

If it was a choice between him and Maradonna I actually don't know who I would have chosen and probably Maradonna because of the absolute superstar status he has, even at that age he would have killed it, like he showed at USA 94.

Crazy what the drugs did to the guy.

We had similar down the years after.

Always thought he had more than one season in the prem.

Came back tail end of I think it was 97/98 or something like that and scored a bagful against Wimbledon to effectively keep us up.

But he left after 1 season when he first signed. Probably realised that shatshow running the club lol

I remember the Sugar interview after he left

Klinsmann gave sugar his shirt ….Sugar held it up and said I wouldn’t even clean my car with that and threw it at the camera

I was gutted when he left …..like Mack said …he was the first genuine world class player we signed (when I was a supporter)

Will never forget the header he scored against Sheffield Wednesday on his debut and loads of them dived to celebrate the goal

On the subject of Sugar I don't know who is worse, him or Levy. The way Terry Venables was sacked will always be as disgraceful and upsetting as when we lost Redknapp.

Not gonna lie my memory is hazy on the sacking of venables …thought it was for dodgy dealings ?

Sugar was a fairly useless chairman but he did rescue the club and signed us some superstars like Klinsmann and Ginola.

Levy would never go out and sign a player of Klinsmann`s stature, he would not be prepared to pay the wages required,

Ginola was probably the last `wow signing` this club made.

Modric maybe, though that was pre him being a big star I guess.

RAF Van de vart weren’t bad either

Klinsmann was world class when we signed him. It would be like waking up tomorrow and spurs have signed mbappe.

We haven’t signed a current world class player since imo
