Wouldn’t know really. Lost any interest in our youth development a long time ago TBH, given the increasingly minuscule chances of anybody coming through that pathway to become a first team regular.

Wouldn’t know really. Lost any interest in our youth development a long time ago TBH, given the increasingly minuscule chances of anybody coming through that pathway to become a first team regular.

A sad indictment if ever there was one. Seems to me like it’s a conveyor belt of “almost” talent we sell on for a few quid and hope that once in a blue moon we get a first team starter.

Even when on the rare occasion we do, we seem to miss the opportunity and they develop into good players at other clubs.

And so it continues.

We can compete with most sides other than the EPL and the very top sides in the Championship. Again other then the EPL we have a better set up, better facilities and ground and more opportunity to play in cup semi finals, finals and maybe in Europe if they progress.

Agreed.

It's not easy. We need to win every match, we need to buy projects and sell them on for high value. And we need to find a gem from our academy.

Doak and Vata were obviously offered more to leave, as have others in the past.

Who were the last academy players to be successful in the first team? McGregor? Forrest? Surely there must be others..?

Been saying for years we should be signing fewer, but better quality players, and filling squad gaps with promising youngsters … instead of bloating out our squad with pash like Holm, Kwon and the likes. Win/win for me. If any young gets don’t see a pathway then of course they’re going to be tempted to move elsewhere, and at an earlier stage.

We have pretty much dominated scottish football the last 12 years. There have been plenty of opportunities to give young players a chance
