Highly likely we could end up in 14th or 15th place after this week with 2 teams who recently sacked their managers overtaking us. Would anybody be worried about relegation then? We'll probably be alright but if we lose to Everton that would be worrying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The sane fans are worried about where we will finish in the league
The unhinged keep banging on about being in 3 cups - as far as I am concerned it’s 2 as Liverpool will hump us at Anfield - tell me I’m a schitt fan I don’t care, I’m realistic, we’ve no chance.
People watching us today who think we can win a cup absolutely baffle me

Any trophy will be our best season in 15 years
If we are eliminated then we look at why, and how and where we are in the league and judge whether it's not good enough.

Just winning a League Cup when we fail badly in the league I wouldn't see as the best season in 15 years. Season we went unbeaten all season at home and racked up 86 points I would say is better, certainly from a managerial point of view.

Most successful season then!
And yoh are right. Success is relative and I do not measure everything by trophies.
But I do think we need to get the trophy monkey off our back and if we do that then it will be a huge thing lifted from us, something that I think has been bringing added pressure your years. Right now I'd take that and if the form picks up then may be Ange keeps his job. But a trophy and shiiit league form and the trophy should not necessarily save him.
But you have to admit it's been a very hard couple months and were still bare bones for a week or 2 yet. No guarantee all will be well when the injured return but we at least have to see whether a full squad, 60 games into Anges career can go on the sort of run we should be capable of at this stage.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
We do indeed need this trophyless monkey off our backs but winning it would just be a brief high in an otherwise very mediocre season. I guess it depends what we'd do with the rest of the season. If we were to win the LC but the league form continues to be poor (assuming Ange makes it through the rest of the season) and we do nothing in the other competitions, then it's mediocre and I'm not sure Ange would deserve to continue, even if he will have delivered a trophy. Frankly I'd be uncomfortable giving the manager yet more money to spend in the summer after so much poor league form.
I actually think at this stage I'd be more willing to let him continue next season if there was an upturn in league form over simply getting a consolation prize via winning a trophy, as strange as that might sound.

Well the prevailing opinion among fans is that he should have been sacked about the time I said he would be.
So, I'd argue I may be wrong but I should have been right!
The team is not exactly doing well, is it?
The Levy/Lewis issues may be a factor.

Bales....I'll add this....I kinda like the guy. He's not all bad, although it may seem that I think so.
If you watch the matches, he preaches all out attack but in recent weeks I've seen a bit more defence than usual, particularly from Dragusin and Gray. Porro too is fast to get back. Bentancur and Sarr as well.
I don't know if this is due to the players or the manager, or a bit of both. He does not seem to have lost the dressing room, which is always a harbinger of things to come.
So, al-in-all, I would not be outraged if he stayed on. He just might "win something in his second year"!
Not much, but something.
This may seem to you to be very "Sandy" of me.
Sorry!

Fans defending the mess the club are in on the pitch has long been the problem at spurs. The apathetic acceptance of mediocrity is the very thing that fuels the clubs lack of ambition and continual exploitation of loyal fans wallets. Highest ticket prices in Europe? No problem! 12 in the league and 1 trophy in 24 years? No problem! Cuts to concessions as they are not sustainable? No problem! More price rises to come in the summer? No problem! Cut wage bill by 15% at the same time? No problem!
Levy used to own a chain of stores called ‘blue inc’. It sold cheap knock offs of fashion brands. It placed itself in shopping malls next to good clothing stores and pretended it was part of the gang, but sold stuff that shrunk or fell apart very quickly. It was the living metaphor for what he is doing at spurs. Ultimately, like other levy ventures before he found a customer that couldn’t escape, it went into administration and disappeared forever.
If some of the fans on here had their way, spurs would be playing ESL games in Stratford by now.
Enic have done extremely well off the pitch. They have turned the brand into the 8th richest in Europe and the most profitable in the world.
But they have no intention of challenging on the pitch. Why would they? Some fans are defending 12th place with the ultimate happiness being 4th.
As long as levy continues to inexplicably pull the wool over enough fans eyes, nothing will change.
Will this be our 17th successive season without a trophy? Any other ‘big’ clubs in Europe gone on such an abysmal run?
Nope.

Also, I’ll add, I’ve really tried to get on board with Ange. God knows bigger names have not been able to work under levy, at least this guy tried to play the attacking football this once great club stood for.
But starting timo Werner yesterday broke me. It was such an inexcusable decision. For so many reasons.
posted 10 hours, 29 minutes ago
My biggest problem with keeping Ange on at this point is the opportunity cost. Although there are some glaring issues with our squad, I also do not believe they are as bad as we are currently seeing. I 100% believe a lot of other gettable managers would be getting more out of this squad than Ange is currently.
I think we have a nucleus of younger players that if coached properly and in a system more suited to them, would have accumulated more points by now. I believe that man should be Iraola and I presume now we’re going to wait until summer to make our move.
In the meantime, VDV’s hamstrings could well go again as he is asked to make multiple recovery sprints. Romero won’t concentrate all game. Werner will still get game time. Son will look like a flogged thorough bred. Archie Gray will either end up in the striker position or playing in goal, Maddison will be dropped again for no real reason.
Then Kulu will think bollx to this circus and faaaack off

Ange has to take some of that blame, if there was no confidence in the medical team - and it seems clear now that there wasn’t, then why rush back VDV and Romero against Chelsea.
Why keep asking player who clearly has hamstring issues to keep making recovery runs roughly every 10 mins - if VDV is not up to the formation due to his hamstrings then you can’t play him or you rotate him heavily to ensure these injuries aren’t picked up.
Why has Spence been left out in the cold why Udogie was run into the ground? That decision looks weirder and weirder with each passing game.
Not every injury is Ange’s fault, but I do believe he is culpable of the above.
I’m glad we’ve finally got rid of our medical team, the injuries have been a joke. Hopefully we will be more thorough in the future when signing players and be able to judge better which players are physically going to be able to do what we need them to do over the course of a season.

People watching us today who think we can win a cup absolutely baffle me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Any trophy will be our best season in 15 years
If we are eliminated then we look at why, and how and where we are in the league and judge whether it's not good enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just winning a League Cup when we fail badly in the league I wouldn't see as the best season in 15 years. Season we went unbeaten all season at home and racked up 86 points I would say is better, certainly from a managerial point of view.
I'm sure I've seen you defend Poch before against people like Sandy claiming Poch was a failure because he didn't win a trophy, so to talk of this being the best comes across disrespectful to that era.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most successful season then!

Spurs win two matches in four days, keep two clean sheets, and the usual suspects are Ange out.
I swear most on this site don't support Spurs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree
How any true Spurs fan can be happy with that today I will never know
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You don't have ti be happy, you just have to win. Would you sooner a great performance in a cup tie, and lose?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
WE WERE PLAYING NON LEAGUE OPPOSITION
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It really doesn't matter. Spurs won the cup as a non league side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes in 1901
Faaaack me, we’re going back 120 years to try and make a point
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow, that was in 1901
Half the other teams’ players were probably off fighting in the Boer War

This thread is just a lot of old ladies....handbags at 2 paces!
Truth is very simple.....
1. The club is racked with more than its fair share of injuries.
2. The manager is way out of his depth and won't admit it.
3. The key players who are still fit are being grossly over used, Kulushevski, Dragusin, Son, are prime examples.
4. The Tamworth debacle will have done squad morale no good at all. It will cause Levy to make changes.
January changes are a'coming...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbf Ted you've been predicting he's going to be sacked for well over a year now. One of these days you might be right!

Nope.

Apart from banging on your keyboard, what have you done to oust Levy?
Fook all so put a sock init. Don't try and make out you are better than anyone else because of all the constant crying you do on here.

I agree with this too. This high risk football seems to be bringing more risk than benefit. Players injured all the time and losing as many as we win. It’s not sustainable
