On his day he's our best player. He can take on players, links up well with team mates and score some crackers. Unfortunately and more evidently so this season he tends to go missing in games and last night when we needed a big performance from him it just wasn't there. I'm a big fan of his but would suggest dropping him for a while in place or Bennett\mason to see if that provokes a reaction. Well played last night. Deserved winners.
I have been a big fan of his in the past but this year oh dear oh dear oh dear he has been nothing short of awful.I think he will be regretting his decision not to go to Ipswich now but unless he rolls his sleeves up and gets back to his old self he may be shown the door in january anyway.I can see some major changes on the horizon and i hope DS is strong enough to implement them im sure he is if given the chance
More to the point Whitby, the club must be regretting him not going to Ipswich, there was a reasonable fee involved. We may have to pay someone to take him now.
think he was Sod's little pet couldnt do any wrong £3.50 and a bag of jelly babies would buy him now yankee
I think you are over valuing him Whitby, 3.50 would buy a good fish supper.
To be fair to Copps he has been a terrific player for the club, but when the team is playing badly he doesn't have enough left to turn a game around on his own. In the three pre-Leeds games he had the odd blisteringly good ten minute burst but last night, like everyone else, he might as well not have put his boots on.
Oh I do love this article..............At last people can see my point of view.............Plenty of ability but no B...s
Kind of the opposite of Hayter, plenty of balls but no ability!
donnyred4ever shall we have a check on goals games ratio....how many "brave"goals has hayter scored, came on as sub last night loosing cause, nothing to prove.....straight on their keeper bang,(or had you gone home by then) just back from injury the other week played as a lone striker got lumps kicked out of him. If some of the others last night would have shown the same amount of bottle perhaps the game may have been different
We will never see the same in Hayter Lanzo, just one of those things. I don't rate him personally. May be it's just one the bad things So'D did at Rovers, personally I think he ruined Hayter.
On the gone home by then comment. Never left a match early in 43 years of life, certainly not gonna do it now & trust me I've seen a lot worse than last night.
Someone just happens to have a different opinion to you, accept it or don't, it bothers me not.
hey donnyred 43 yrs thats the same as me we have both suffered to long RTID Alan Little my favorite player (not the best but favorite) dont think him and 26 would get a long to well lol Take Care.
too right lanzo. not sure anyone would get on with no. 26 right now the way he's playing!!!! A luxury player we can scarse afford right now when we need everyone giving 100% EVERY game.
Now I'll give that one to Hayter, constant 100% effort, I just feel he's been played out of position so much, he forgotten to do much of the basic stuff up front
Lanzo, as you know I'm not a fan either, perm class when he's on it but all too often more Conference or even Sunday League. We should have taken him to Ipswich in close season as we mentioned, think we will have to pay someone to take him now. Mason should come in for Oster and Bennett for Copps, give us pace, appetite and players who will run at opposition and cause problems.
Agree 4life, but what we really needed on Friday night was a bit if graft in midfield. We were overrun because we had no one in the middle of the park to hassle and put it about. Leeds closed us down quickly and gave us no time on the ball.
The defence have taken a lot of knocks over the performance, but it's more the lack of any bite in midfield that cost us
Yeah agree there DonnyRed, Gillett was shocking, normally quite tenacious but was 3rd to everything. Think he's a decent player but was not at races on Friday, mind you, that comment could apply to most of the team. Would love to see a real wall in our midfield though, big strong, powerful, hard tackling... Plus, and I know I'm likely to get some stick here, I would drop Billy. He's a million miles from being fully fit, has been rushed back and it shows.
If you think back to the success times of SoD the two main midfielders were Green and Wellens, both hard tackling and tenacious players. I think I am right that they were both signed by Dave Penny and not SoD. Once they left we did not have that bite any more.
How i wish we could have the likes of those two in the team.
Greenie was the best box to box midfielder Rovers have ever had.
