You can almost hear the cogs in their little clockwork minds grinding as they try to find a negative spin to 13 points from 15

740 miles to Ell and Back

Can you get sound from rubber cogs?

"Can you get sound from rubber cogs?"

Er, if you stick someones neck between them then yes!..

But it doesn't last very long!.

posted on 15/10/11

Would that be the cogs making the noise though?

Not really (Go bates Go)
LIW posted a thread only yesterday & Blumeme & GO were also on yesterday after the game.

I see you're another 'fan' that lives in the South supporting your favourite jellied eel Uncle.

How predictable.

I'm surprised that Wierdo Eric hasn't give you the heads up seeing as he's on here morning, noon & night but lets face it, he isn't the sharpest tool in the box is he?

Well said Highland!

Cant see what others problem with Liw is..????.

Says things as they are...A Leeds supporter through and through....

As for the other two..well thats another story..

Well said Highlandwhite and LeedsSouth..

All the names Go Bates Go mentioned have been on since game.

Them that try and attack should do a bit of homework before they get their facts wrong. There's a few on just recently, itching to have a go at someone........thing is, when they get a score wrong and Leeds lose, they're hiding under a rock making like a cockroach.

This from the urchin that posted this thread -

Who would You Rather have as Chairman

Bates, Fotherby or Ridsdale?
Its a tough one isn''t it?

Not for me though.
Bates everytime even though he's a slippery old goat.

and double

Did you have a good day at work yesterday, paper rounds can be so tiresome can't they?

Well said. I wonder how many of those who attack regular match goers for being 'negative' actually do the business of supporting the team where it matters - at the ground?

Good to see you've nailed your colours to a mast!

You are suggesting here that fans (whatever their view) that live elsewhere aren't as much a fan as you, because you live in Leeds and go to more matches than they do?

Priceless

posted on 16/10/11

OK, Roz, so because I can't afford £130+ in petrol and 12-13 hours travelling time per match, I don't count and am not a real fan?

Yes, it's a rare treat for me to get to E.R. nowadays .. think yourself lucky!

Actually, I was born in Leeds but lived in London for 18 years so I didn't go to ER regularly in those days. However, I wouldn't have dreamed of attacking match going Leeds fans for their views when my 'support' amounted to sitting listening to a radio or waiting for results on tv. That's the distinction I'm making.

It makes me laugh when you have certain people on here spouting off about 'positivity' when it's not they who have parted with hard earned cash for season tickets and given up time and effort to get to games in all weathers.

Elmondey, that's similar to my brother when he came over for the Barnsley game last season. He used to go to ER in the 60s but live football hasn't been his priority for many years, bar watching on Sky, and he'd not not been to a Leeds game since we used to go together in the 70s.

He was so surprised at how poorly we played because we were just hoofing it all game. I'm hoping he'll see some better stuff this season - he's coming to the Blackpool game next. Missing his roots, I think!

There are some who could watch wall to wall 24/7 without understanding what's going on and I would take exception to anyone who suggested that going to the game entitled you to take the rip out of the team or the club.

When the guys are obviously doing their best they should show some respect unless there is any element of complacency.

Talking of which as anyone heard from JLA or Jonty since Friday evening?

posted on 16/10/11

What I would like to know is whether watching an away game at Doncaster live on Sky, in my lounge or at the pub gives me as much of a knowledge of how a game goes, more than say a Leeds fan that goes to that game, gets hammered in the town before the game, spends half the time in the lav, ends up watching the game from the bar or by staring aimlessly at the home fans and verbally abusing them whilst pointing at them?

Where does that put me Roz@NEU?

Were you at Doncaster or did you watch it on telly?

original koppite

I haven't, but then we won didn't we, Jonty will be gutted because he had us down for an away loss!

(You never see them together either do you? )

Oh Dear Eric!
Like i said you're NOT the sharpest tool in the box.

That article you dug out was from June this year, shortly after our master confirmed to us that they'll be a flurry of transfer activity during the summer months & none of our players would be sold.

Do you remember that little beauty?

So i gave him the benefit of the doubt & thought, maybe, just maybe he would keep his word & act upon it.
Of course we all know how that one panned out don't we?

And on top of all that, since my article he has

Banned all players from using twitter.
Called some of his paying customer morons
Stuck his middle finger up at the loyal end of the ground who without their constant support, we WOULD have folded.

But yet you still think about Bates "Well done that man"

I would call you an absolute disgrace to our club, but you're not even a leeds fan, you're just a scruffy chavvy cockney with no job, no mates & no prospects!

You're entitled to your opinion, whatever it is this week.

1st of all why does living in the south offend some?
2nd there are two ways of reading Go-Bates-Go, I can't stand the fella.
Finally when I write this article I HAD looked back at the articles written SINCE Friday and hadn't found any STARTED by the three named. They are normally quick to begin negative threads.
Now I remember why I only occasionally write on this, Not606 and the original bbc site.

..........................

Well as I see, it according to some, you know the ones, the lame brains! Apparently if you live down south you personally know Ken Bates? and therefore you're a chavvy cockney?

(The fact that the south of England covers an area that contains the square mile where you can hear the sound of Bow Bells makes that right? (in the minds of some))

As someone born in Halton I find being called a chavvy cockney (especially as I currently reside in Kent?) rather a sad indictment of the intellect of the author of the comment!

I was born in Bradford, and my dad worked on Elland Road about 100 yds from the ground. I'll be honest and say for personal reasons I don't get to many games, and I prefer to call myself a Fan. However I have been a fan since the mid 60's and when I can I will go to the occasional game. Because of this I like to read the opinions of those who have been able to get to the game. I just can't understand the negative comments from some people, and getting on the backs of players and management (not worried about people having a go at Papa Snuff though) instead of encouraging them. I just hope this doesn't happen at the games.
