I want him to be more of a team player - Gerrard does all of those things and has played in almost every position for liverpool. VDV moans to the press if he's not played in his favourite position for a couple of games

Personally I thought he went in with the right team - Luka looked a bit off the pace which was probably down to playing two huge games for Croatia last week - to go in with him in the middle would have been a gamble imo.. You need steel in the middle against Newcastle at SJP so Livermore (in the absence of Sandro) and Parker were the clear choices there. I guess the only doubt was VDV V Defoe - but for me Rafa adds another body in midfield which I think was important in the first half in particular.

Spurcat has told us often enough that the defensive side of Walkers' game still is a work in progress. Making Corluka look like a snail in a foot race ain't enough to become the Ledley of RBs.
