He averages 15 in test cricket.

@ginger
he has only played 3 tests , so give it a break
Virat is the future indian captain but he needs to be careful and follow the path of dravid, take dravid as an example

He will get alot of chin music at test level.. he wont get the ball in his half all the time.. So we will see what kind of test record he finishes with.

cricfan,

Yeah im sure he's going to follow in the footsteps of dravid, you know, with playing ipl and t20 champs trophy every 6 months, that will help him stay at the crease for hours and hours..... blocking away.... seriously, what world do you live in?

@ afridi

from what i read in papers
kohli and raina do practice alot and very hard , yes raina is not a test cricketer but i want them to practice hard , regardless of the type of the cricket ,

i dont think virat kohli struggles againsst short pitch bowling

afridi,
How grumpy and jealous pakistani players are,dont you know,of not getting a chance to lick the money of IPL?
to the extent that they started playing for the opposition in order to gain quick bucks as their indian counterparts?
so stop making sour-grape comparison.

Based in three tests, he will be the best player in the world?

its strange as both Kohil and Raina are great and 1 day cricket but as soon as the tests come about they are like a pair of walking ducks.

Kohli needs a better run out in test imo.

Anyone can look class when your chasing a failry modest score. England have kept the fielders up as putting them back would be pointless so he gets a few 4 balls. Test cricket is all that counts to me.. Its not becaus England are average to Odi's., I just love test cricket..

Bopara to Kohli, FOUR, 111.0 kph, shot! Sublime timing from Kohli, who whips off the pad with minimum fuss and beats a diving Samit Patel at midwicket. That takes India past 200, and Kohli's looking good for a ton now

@know-it-all
what ever mate, but how can decide his test credentials with out him playing atleast 25 tests, he is only 22

posted on 17/10/11

Indiasocks,

I know some pak players are making an issue out of not playing in the IPL, but i couldnt careless mate. I still wouldnt watch it, its dull and last a lifetime.... As a pak fan, pakistan have benefited from our players not taking part in the IPL, just look at our record in T20 world cups... speaks for itself. So as a fan, im delighted they dont get picked and hope they dont in future.....

I know so why does the OP call him the future mastero? He could be dropped in 5 games time and not play again.. If he gets chosen to bat in the test matches in Australia.The ball will be around his lugholes.. He wont be able to prop forward to drive the ball that often..

Century no.7 at the age of 22.
How many of the current English batsman including all that hail from South-africa or Ireland have more than that?

@knowitall
after few exchanges i conclude that there is no point in conversing with you as you are gonna say kohli will fail regardless of what we say so i say not so nice conversing with you

And that was against the West Indies. What would have happened if he faced Broad and Anderson last summer?

@kash
i expected better from you!
he is only 22 and learning so it takes time for any one to be good test player at this level
the same english test team have been playing for a long time and it took them a few years to perform the way they have done

English players whining
"There are more words being exchanged by the batsmen and the England fielders, SK Tarapore intervening straight away. It's all a bit pointless now!"
and Virat's reply:-
"Bresnan to Kohli, FOUR, 130.2 kph, shot! On a length and wide from Bresnan, and Kohli sends it sailing over extra cover with a sliced drive, on the up. The shot of a man with total confidence in his own abilities"

what r you guys on about.... know it all i know you are saddened by how poor england are in the subcontinent but learn to accept it 6days ago you were making all sorts of prediction that the indian bowlers will be samshed around, cook will be the highest run scorer and etc. india have comprehensively yet again, unlike in england where rain was always there to change the game. This is not luck, it is a comprehensive win by india!!!!1 7-0. i hope india make them go with a nil
