McCormick was cover for the injuries to Lowe & Cog.
Don't think we need or will get anyone else in.
But remember Meggy saying that he prefers to have 4 strikers. I get the feeling that he has someone else in mind. Doubt Morrison will come back after their fall out.
Be nice if someone like Cody McDonald came in...if he's still at Norwich that is
McDonald went to Coventry for some bizarre reason!
Don't think he'd be happy warming our bench anyhow.
Think if we had a 4th striker it would need to be either a trusty veteran or a promising kid. Clearly Megson didn't like Modest at all.
Cody Mac signed for Coventry last month, but he would have been an amazing signing IMAO.
Modest should IMO have progressed to be pushing the first team by now... it looks as tho he hasn't so i cant argue with the choice to release him.
However, McGoldrick i am shocked about. He is a very good striker who with regular games i believe would score lots of goals at Championship level - and we were lucky to get him.
I think we should have done what we could to keep this lad as he is twice the player of O'Grady !!
Mccoldrick wages were out of our budget. Think cog needs longer than 90 mins when not fully fit before taking judgement.

I'm sure some people said the similar things about Madine, when he first arrived. Give the lad a chance and more than 90 minutes
Some people were saying the same about Madine 7 weeks ago!
I would have liked to keep McGoldrick but I'm not gonna cry about the fact we haven't.
We could do with a 4th striker though! maybe there's something in the rumour about this York striker (who scored again last night).
As for Modest, he's clearly not good enough & I assume he'll have something lined up (probably non-league) which is why we've allowed him to go by mutual consent!
It's because Lowe is back in full training.
Can I point out that McGoldrick's scored 9 goals in his 66 games for forest and got 1 in 4 for us. He's not that quick, he's not that big, he's not that skillful - in essence he's pretty average.
COG's got 34 in his 90 games for Rochdale. That alone is a good record, but when you take into account he's played out wide in some of those games and can play a support role with his strength and good touch holding the ball up, he will bring a lot to the team.
When he gets fit we'll see the best of him. He has the attributes to help Madine flourish too.
That's all well & good but McGoldricks 66 games have pretty much all come in the Championship & at least half of O'Grady's have come in League 2!
Also, how many of those games has DMG started compared to COG?
Not that I'm unhappy with COG cos I'm not but the comparison is unfair!
At this moment in time DMG is a better player, no doubt, but we can't afford him and that's that.
Anyhow, long term I think CoG fits in better with how Megson wants to play.
Anyway, when we sign that 27yo from York....we'll be ok!
Replace no doubt with imo
Bet he's another 6ft 5 player, just how Meggy likes em...oo er
On a serious note though, if we are looking at Non League players then at least shouldnt we be looking at promising youngsters and not 27 yr olds?
time will tell. My money is on Chris
We should be looking at players we think we can do the job, regardless of age imo!
He's certainly banging them in for fun & scored some kind of worldy overhead kick the other week!
Whoever they are I assume they'll be 4th choice so all they really need is to be decent enough when given a chance but happy enough to sit in the bench for a MASSIVE club.
But you have to admit that signing someone who's 27 and never played in the Football League is a bit of a gamble
Regardless of thier current form might I add
Who is this 27 year old from York, am I missing something?
Jason Walker.
Apparently, we've been had him watched several times this season!
I think Cotterill probably wanted mcgoldrick back as he needs to assess what he has at forest before January.
With Lowe almost back maybe COG will revert out wide with Lowe up front with madine. Better than JOC out there!!
He was only on loan for a month wasn't he? Month's up, he's gone back. As for Modest, he's like Petter Rudi; you really want him to do well, but he doesn't.
