I'm with all the positives but...

I left the ground not feeling like we had won !

Didn't see the game last night but if we took our foot off the gas because we were easily winning 2-0 then that's fine by me, would rather have a fully fit squad for the next game to be honest!

The win and the clean sheet were the most important things from this game, not the number of goals.

Perhaps we did sit back a bit, yes, from what I heard in the commentary. But we were never really threatened, and there never seemed any question about where the points were going.

The stats are interesting - Watford had by the close had more possession (56% I think), and more shots on target. A lesson not to read too much into such measures.

Roll on Saturday, and let's hope his appetiser has set Beckford up to wade into the main course.

The fans deserved more in the second half. MON would not have stood for it.

Robster take off rose MON tinted glasses we would not of scored till last the 5 before the end after boring us to bits and we would forget the other 85 mins!!!

My son and his mate where amazed that the fans could not get the posession football that the boys where playing.

If you got the ball the other team can not score.

Watford are the sort of team we fall over against cant we be happy with a win a clear sheet and move up the league.

Or is our right to expect more?

I really cant see why everyone is moaning?!

We've easily won a game 2-0.

We were never going to lose or draw that game when we went 2-0 up. Why bother knackering all our players out trying to score 3 or 4?

The problem is we invite pressure by taking our foot off the gas. It's a good job Schmeichel made that blinding save ten minutes before time, or we would really have been sweating.

Sven says we gave the ball away too much second half - that stems from a tentative approach. Just keep going lads should be the message.

I agree that we tried to take the sting out of the game and play it out but I'm not sure we went about it the right way. Usually, you should slow the tempo down and pass the ball with simple passes and move the opposition around. We didn't do that - we were too sloppy when passing and almost let Watford back into it. Thankfully they weren't good enough to capitalise.

But I can understand why we did it with another game in 3 days but we should have done it better but the players will learn from that and it was comfortable win. I was impressed with the movement off the ball which is key in games like these when you have to break down teams and Nugent and Beckford seemed to have a good understanding together which is promising. The full-back were also better and got forward a lot more and Konchesky in particular had much better delivery than on Sunday and it was nice to see him get an assist.

Johnson would actually be my man of the match. At the base of the diamond, he dictated the play and picked out passes that started our attack well and him and Wellens were very good orchestrating the play and you could see they were on the same wavelength with their passing and vision and those two (Johnson particularly) added that creative spark that maybe we've been missing. I think it remains to be seen whether Johnson has the defensive capabilities to play that deep and whether his tackling is good enough and maybe in the bigger games I'd play him further forward and play someone more combative and a better tackler (i.e. Abe/Fernandes) but in these games where we have to break teams down, I think Johnson at the base orchestrating the play is the way forward.

But it has to be said that Watford were very poor. They tried to flood the midfield and deny us space but they were very undisciplined with the way they did it and left plenty of spaces for us to exploit and there was no pressure on the man on the ball which allowed us to pick our passes with consummate ease. 2nd half they improved but, for the most part, we kept them at arms length and saw out the game comfortably. We'll need a similar performance against Millwall and it was encouraging because these are the sort of games we've struggled in so far so, hopefully, we can get another three points.

This.

I'm not bothered if we take our foot off the gas and comfortably win, but it's backfired on us before and it will do again. I won't complain about last night because we were never in trouble but we need to be more professional or else I will be complaining in the future I'm sure.

I wouldn't consider Johnson for Man Of The Match, but to suggest that he get unceremoniously sent back to Man City as one caller apparently suggested is ridiculous.
(Wellens or Nugent for MOTM for me, probably Nugent.)

Regarding Johnson, I'm afraid I don't yet see the player that's supposed to have been consistently knocking on England's door by now. Of course he's suffered injuries and is still getting used to playing with the team and it certainly wasn't a bad performance, more of a 6 or 7/10 for me. I was glad that we saw his awareness in glimpses however, and that he was tidy in possession.

Of course, I hope he continues to improve and settle into the team, showing us what Sven clearly believes he can do.

Agree with you about Johnson Dunge, and I agree Nugent was probably MOTM.

Peltier continues to impress me as well but I'm surprised Abe was called the 'weak link' by some, I thought he was the best of our midfielders last night and his cross for the second was a pearler.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Johnson's performance was International quality but I was impressed with the way he used the ball so well and the way he controlled and conducted our play from deep and many of our good moves came from him. 2nd half I think one of our biggest flaws was that we didn't get him on the ball enough. I thought the link up between him and Wellens was very encouraging and that could be a fruitful combination as the season goes on.

I think Michael Johnson definitely has the capacity to improve and show the form that Sven knows he can get to and I think once we get him playing, I think we might have the best midfielder in the Championship in our side.

What was more impressive for me, rather than individuals playing well, is that no-one in the team had a bad game and that is generally what I look for most because then, I feel, you know that you've played well.

Haven't heard anything about St Ledger's performance.
Did he grasp his opportunity to impress Sven?
As for taking our foot off the gas, it sounds as if we should give Watford some credit for changing their tactics and playing a more positive game. It's not just about us, there are always two teams on the field.

Montreal - St. Ledger did pretty well; a committed performance with few errors. If I was to point out a negative about him, he was dominated in the air by Iwelumo. He's clearly a decent enough Championship defender though. 7/10.

Agree Montreal - There were many factors to explain the 2nd half - none of them are a real concern but yes Watford should take some credit for it.

I thought St ledger did well, maybe looked a bit nervous 1st 15 mins - barring his balls up v bristol thought he played well in that game. Looks a solid player at this level.

During the radio Leic interview, Sven said a number of players were very tired.
That being the case, he instructed 2 players in particular to play entirely different during the second half.

Niether Konchesky or Peltier crossed the half way line in the second half!!!! that seems unbelievable but true.

Not like the first half when both were hammering down the wings.!!!

Now I also note Watford did change there attacking technic for the second half but we actually helped them by sitting back.

P.S I do however think both these players played well

Nugent MOM for me but I also agree that Johnson looked vey comfortable in front of the back four as the midfield anchor.

Wellens also had a reasonable game but I did not think either Abe or King had outstanding games - that said Abe's cross for Beckfords goal was a peach, although the Watford defence gave him plenty of time to set it up.

I think we all anticipated more of the same after a good first half but once again we experienced Sven's tactics of just doing enough which proved to be the case last night.

I would also agree that we appeared to negotiate the problem of a team in the lower part of the league playing quite defensively and we did open them up quite frequently and with some ease. Watford were poor though and whilst Millwalls point at Derby the other week should be noted if we apply the same tactics on Saturday things should look quite positive come 5.00pm.

I think Greatness has got it pretty much spot on. Johnson for me was a class act for the first 70 minutes. I don't think he misplaced a pass in the whole game but definitely tired in the last 20. If Watford hadn't been so dire then I reckon Sven would have taken him off, but as comfortable as we were, I think Sven wanted to give him the full 90 minutes.

I hope he becomes a regular in the side as he could be a real top player again. I thought King was excellent again and is one of the few with the guile to open teams up with his passing and is also happy to run at defences.

Abi looked lost on the right wing. His best position is definitely in the centre of midfield but he has some stiff competition there now.

Tai'd_up - I felt the same it was the result we wanted but a drab display as stadium atmosphere showed _ I've never felt like that before especially after a 2 - 0 win.
