Well played Samit. Trott taking some uncalled for abuse from Nick Knight and Sir Ian.

50 runs short with this Indian team IMO.

Now Knight is back tracking.!!! O_o

Trott was the glue that held the innings together, what would have happened if he'd thrown away his wicket earlier? His presence allowed the aggression from other players.
There's no satisfying some people.

Hope
With three to fours overs left, more risks should have been taken by Trott, IMO.
An excellent innings yes, but only up to a certain point.

^ How many times did he find the fielder on the boundary ?

A little more luck and we`d have been going crazy about him.

But Samit managed to hit big?

Trott for me should be one of the first names on the teamsheet so I don't want to knock him but with one of the biggest hitters in county cricket awaiting, perhaps more risks should have been taken.

Trott was trying to be aggressive but too often he hit a fielder when a yard either way would have been a boundary.
I doubt we would have reached this total without his anchor role.

Trott would walk into any team even in the one day format. Every team needs a Trott.

I agree but with a few overs left, we needed more from him. Again, I don't want to have a go but he should have done better in the last few overs.
Up until then, very well played.

He and Patel put on 50 for the last 5 overs, when was the last time we did that?

posted on 20/10/11

Hope whats your opinions on Patel now or do u think its a flash in the pan? Bell wont have scored like that.

I'm a big fan of Patel and have never suggested replacing him. I would open with Bell as I don't believe Kieswetter is an ODI opener.

Thanks to Patel.

Anyhoo, know more to be said.

Let's hope we knock them over

I would bat Kieswetter at seven.

regardless of result, a fine performance from england

It's a team game it doesn't matter who scores the runs.
If our bowlers bowl to the standard we've seen from them so far in this series, 299 will be a stroll for India.

Bell returning would mean no Bopara possibly and this gives us even less bowlers.
Who misses out when everybody is fit will be interesting to see.

Ginger are you suggesting Bell replaces Bopara? I would as I've often said he should replace Kieswetter as opener. Bell is not a good 5 or 6 in this form of the game.

Why are the Indian fans screaming every time the bat touches the ball

Who's going to keep?

Bairstow!!!!!!!!

posted on 20/10/11

I hear Bairstow is fairly average behind the stumps.

posted on 20/10/11

Good start from India here and these are there less significant batsman. England need to control the run rate.

posted on 20/10/11

Bairstow is the full time keeper for Yorkshire.
