Excluding Rhodes the best 5 players town have had since I have watched them (excludes Steve Harper)
1) Marcus Stewart
2) Anthony Pilkington
3) Andy Booth
4) Chris Marsden
5) Paul Dalton
Ha Ha...
Clark Out !!
Seriously tho', the form of Rhodes has coincided with the return of Alan Lee , and the fact we now play 2 strikers home and away in a consistent formation for every match..This is what many of us have been pleading for for over a year, but Elsie has refused to budge previously, despite our obvious greater understanding of the game than his.
My only concerns about Elsie is indeed how long it takes him to adapt to changing circumstances, he seems very staid and stick in the mud...We're ok for now because the team picks itself every week, but sooner or later players will be injured or suspended and then he will have to come up with the right solution otherwise we could find ourselves slipping down the league.
It seems that most of the changes Elsie has made have been forced on him by circumstances rather than by some managerial magic...so , for me, the jury is still out.
Paul Dalton ! Really !
Dean Gorre ( brielfly ) ?
Ken Monkou , Georgis Donis anybody ???
Gordon Tucker, kwame hodouto and Alex dyer hahaha
Gordon tucker ! Blimey, where did you dig that one up from ?
don't forget Dave Cowling, Tim Clarke !!
Dean Gorre had some talent, but seemed a little injury prone if I remember
Stand by everything I ever said about Rhodes, when we aren't on top of a match it's like playing with 10 men. Now we're on top of matches more often than not it's a different story.
I also stated a LONG time ago that he is a great threat but we fail to utilise him properly. What were the things I said we needed to do?
1) Get someone up front with him who can do all the hard work and allow him to do the simple stuff he's good at.
2) Play the ball quickly when we get forward and put the ball into the box as soon as possible.
If you want to toot your own horn and say you called it though Rich go ahead...
rhodes is scoring goals.. he has scored goals before..
he has done more in the past few weeks, work wise than he ever did before.. that may be the difference..
i dont think anyone ever said get shut of him, we just wanted a striker who scored a few goals and did a little more work outside the box..maybe he is that striker now??
the resurgence of alan lee and the extra we get from arfield now is certainly something to do with it.. when we finally get an attacking central midfielder who can get up and down, jordan might score every week..!
3-0 up on saturday and miller was knackered, robinson sitting on the bench??? we let a daft goal in and miller got caught tired and wrong side for the free kick.. bennett made the save but 3-2 would have made for a very nervous end to what should have been a much more comfortable last few minutes..
lee clark didnt make the sub that was required.. jurys out still!!
good managers make subs when they are winning, losing or drawing as the game dictates.. clark sometimes knee jerks and sometimes waits too long.. he will get a grip on it, eventually..
Clark is a bad manager, even i could have town Second with all the money he has spent............ CLARK OUT
wey hey !!
There's nothing going on at town that the fans haven't seen the need for since last year..it has taken Elsie an age to get on board with us...but we'll see him through...Elsie, if you are reading this still (which I'm sure you do all the time now), stick with us mate..we'll pick the team and sort the tactics out for you, as usual..
Jury is still out for me too !
I am quite sure i recall a lot of folk saying Alan Lee was pants ??
Yet he has become the catalyst for the rest to work off, No surprise to me, The big fella should start every game and be withdrawn about the hour mark every game, Something i have said since we signed him.
38 - I too said to my mates on saturday that Robinson should have been brought on to replace the tired Miller, If he had i dont for one minute think PNE would have scored or put us under the bit of pressure they did at the end, It made total sense to withdraw a player out on his legs and carrying a caution, We all see it yet Clarky doesnt,
I also believe Arfield is a far better player when played as a natural attacking midfielder rather than out wide, Though i cannot knock him at the minute as he appears to enjoy playing in tandem with Hunt.
Woods inclusion also offers us a more balanced formation than the expensive passive/static Naysmith ever does.
jordan rhodes must have had something wrong with him last season. he must have been ill and it must have been viral. hes over it now hes a different players. thats my opinion and i think lc saying he wasnt playing him to rest him wad just an excuse to protect him. anyone agree?
Guys.. have to congratulate you lot on your recent form and turnaround in your games. Not so long ago you were drawing loadsa games and since we played you and drew 1-1, I think you lot have passed your virus onto us! we cant seem to buy a win at the moment and find the back of the net.. Cheers!
I think given the depth of our squad there is merrit in having Lee fully commit for 60 mins then replace him with Novak. Defenders will breath a sigh of relief and then realise they have to work even harder!!!
Same goes for midfield, having so many central midfielders seems to make sense to use them sensibly. So many goals come from tired players doing silly mistakes that fresh legs just dont do.
Was gutted I couldnt make the game on Saturday but was delighted by the result!
Oh and I think all the players are fitter this year and that could ecplain the Rhodes issue. Just look at how Lee looks lighter and fitter and you wonder if a pre season with the new fitness team in place did wonders. I cant believe Steve Black was calling himself a fitness coach!!! Im sure Dean sued him under the Trades Description Act
38,
You say "good managers make subs whether winning losing or drawing"
Whilst I can't disagree with that, you forgot to add that REALLY good managers take their teams on a 39 match unbeaten league run and win at least 50% of all the game thay are involved in.
How many other managers can you list who can match, or beat Clark's record?
Alan Lee wrote that his current performances are as a result of the hardest fitness program he has ever had to go through. he admits that leason he struggled because he couldn't cope with the intensity of the regime. he now feels fitter and has trimmed a few pounds and he said he feels as fit as he ever has done....
Mirf im with u mate!! Lee clark and the boys are doing amazing! Keep it up lads! Money dosent guarentee owt in footie. I love u town
FINALY WE ARE ON THE RISE!!
UTT
and a new club record of 14 games unbeaten at the start of a season ! Beats the 13 we had in 1962/3 which was ended by ..Southampton (a game I attended with a Saints fan from school)...
A) 17th December
B) Soon, if not 1700 hours on 17th December
C) Never, he's an arrogant to$$er
I can't see us losing all season infact i don't think we will ever lose again . I just can't see it.... Clark out!!!.
I also think we will be champions by Feb and Sheffield wens will be in bottom 3 by then too. and am never wrong me.
