A professional footballer can easily play 2 90 minute games every week, it's really not that hard. Why should Vidic turn his back on his country under the pretence that he is letting younger players have a chance? There is just something I find completely wrong with deciding not to play for your country - especially if it's to prolong the amount of time you can get paid top money from club football.
Being selected to play for your country is the biggest privilege you can receive and quite how anyone can decide they don't want to is beyond me.

Not for ten months solid. Have you not noticed how tired England players look at International tournaments.

................

He isn't turning his back on his country. He has represented his country for nine years. He now wants to call it a day.

Would you say that a soldier is turning his back on his country when he retires from Military duty?

There is just something I find completely wrong with deciding not to play for your country.

Like what?

Like the fact that they're turning their back on their country.

Are you seriously comparing footballers to soldiers? That's ridiculous.

Why is it ridiculous?

Have you ever been in the Military?

Serbia failed to qualify for Euro 2012

He would've been a little old for the World Cup in 2014 so makes sense

Rajkovic's time to shine

No, but it's a hell of a lot different to playing football. The chance of being shot or blown up by suicide bombers makes sure of that.

I think what keith is getting at is that it is a huge honour to play for your country, and if the manager calls them up, they should go.

if the manager decides it's time for rajkovic or whoever to take over, he would stop calling up or playing vidic.

in actual fact, retiring from international duty is a fallacy. all you're doing is telling the boss that you don't want to play any more. if he decides to call you up anyway, as with makelele, then you find yourself in lots of trouble if you refuse. by playing in a fifa recognised league, you make yourself available for fifa recognised international games, if selected.

No

...............

So you really have no moral ground to stand on what so ever in claiming someone is turning his back on his country, despite him serving it for nine years.

Be it on a football pitch or in a war.

are you seriously saying that if someone hasnt been in the military they can't have an opinion on players retiring from international duty?

seriously?

you, sir, have lost the plot.

It's not moral ground at all, but the two things are completely different and you know it. Comparing the two is like comparing being the manager of Blyth Spartans to being Prime Minister of England.

What part of that don't you understand? It is written in plain simple English as well.

You of all people can't say something like that. I seem to have to repeat things 3 or 4 times before you finally grasp my point.

...................

Yes it is. You have spent the last two hours having issues with Vidic because he has retired from Internationl football.

Turning his back on his country(as you described it), despite him serving it for the last nine years.

Should I take issues with you, for never serving your country at all? At anything.

well, as your inventive use of the english language is beyond me, perhaps you could spell it out as to exactly what you were trying to say, because
"have no moral ground to stand on what so ever in claiming someone is turning his back on his country, despite him serving it for nine years".
certainly sounds like you're saying that unless someone has been in the military they can't have an opinion on 'turning your back on your country', ie, in the terms of this discussion, international retirement. The manager of his country hasn't said his time is up, he has. his manager hasn't decided it's time rajkovic takes over, he has.

or were you just completely going off an an irrellevent tangent in a desperate attempt to 'win' an argument online?

Just when I thought your comments couldn't get more ridiculous.

So, I explain why I think Vidic shouldn't retire from his country, then you try to compare retiring from playing football for his country to serving in the military (something you can't fault anyone for wanting to get out of) and now you suggest that I don't have a leg to stand on because I haven't served my country?
Do you actually read your posts back before you post them?

................

Actually, you have not. All you have done is rant that he is turning his back on it.

Which, to any normal person, he is not.

He has served it well and wishes to retire from it.

It is still unanswered as to why you, a Blackburn fan, has issues with it.

I felt totally indifferent when Zidane (to pick anyone out of thousands) retired from International football.

Why are you so upset with Nemanja.

I have explained but, like normal, you completely ignore my points. You also seem to have ignored my answer over an hour ago to that exact question but, of course, what you said is completely true, right?

................

No you did not explain.

Why are you, a Blackburn fan, and I assume not even Serbian, be upset that Vidic has retired from International football?

You must have some severe character defect, for this to upset you so much.

Would a United fan care one little bit if Radosav Petrovic was to retire from playing for Serbia.

You really are a piece of work.

Go through the posts again, then. I explained it wasn't just Vidic, it was anyone who did it but this article is about Vidic, therefore it's standard that I am going to talk about Vidic.

Typical United player. You should always be willing to play for your country.

.............................

You quite clearly have issues with United.

........................

I assume from your very first post that no other teams have players who retire from International Football?

Nothing like starting with a sensationalist comment. Read through the rest now, I'd have thought you'd have been reading them as you went along but that must be where we're different.
