No ranked matches is completely pointless for me, what's the point in building a 4 star team if I can't play it in a silver match, and I'll just come up against 5 star teams if I go in gold competitions or seasons. FUT 12 was about finding the best team possible for a certain star rating, but now it just seems to be about building simply the best team possible full stop, which is basically whoever spends the most money on packs. Head 2 Head all the way for me it seems.

Kent I do agree with you. There isn't going to be the same amount of fun in making interesting teams as they won't be good enough to compete, certainly not in seasons and maybe not in cups.
H2H seasons was the best part of FIFA 12.

If you're playing just for fun cool teams I'd avoid gold players. Maybe some bronze silver hybrids would work. But I'd only build gold teams if you're going to try to make a really good one.

Provided I sell everything in my tradepile, I'll have well over 200K. Trading on 13 for me is easier that 12...I trade in the Spanish market and it is a gold mine...bought some players for 600 and sold for 5K within a day. It seems though that others are catching on, unfortunately, but with the coins I get I am looking to build two silver squads and then on to Gold.
Trading is a lot easier I've found also this year.
People often say it's more fun to play with skill teams and silver teams etc., but I find that most teams are fun to play with, just depends on how well you do. Sweaty teams, pacey teams, passing, skill, gold, silver, bronze. They're all good.
Why pay 90k for a 5 star skill LB? I mean, how often at LB are you going to need 5 star skills
I have sympathy with the argument that you have more fun with skill teams, although I'd say as long as you have at least a couple of players in important positions as skillers then that's all you need.
GMS in my Dundee United team is fantastic and great fun to use, but then the others are still good too. He just stands out because he has magic feet.
Exactly. Best silver Brazilian LB looks like Ramon, plays for Flamengo, goes for about 15k. Better stats than Azevedo, just a bit slower, not as good at heading and 'only' 4* skills.
