At half time my mate put a 10er on United to win, which i felt was a good bet at the time, as we seemed to be controlling the game, and i felt it was only a matter of time till we created some clear cut chances, plus we tend to win at Old Trafford. My major issue from Sunday is Evans. It seems harsh blaming this horrific loss on him, but i really thought it was terrible defending. Fergie said he should have just let Balloteli go through, but in my opinion Evans was in a good position to directly for the ball rather than even tangling with Ballotelli, for me it was schoolboy defending, and i am quite pleased he will be banned for 3 games, as i much prefer the idea of Smalling or Jones in the team (if Vidic is still not seen as fit enough).

Jones, Smalling, Rio and Vidic would all have cut the ball out instead of getting involved. I think he was slightly pulled first, but not enough to stop him cutting the ball out. Rubbish defending.

Professional foul is one game, served tonight.

I obviously see things differently. However I didn't understand why you didn't immediately substitute an attacker for a defender after the red. To get anything with 10 the key is not to concede again and hope to grab one. It struck me as odd to hear Ferguson criticise his players as reckless. I think he suffered from a bit of that too, you might have come through better with a more conservative approach.

Welcome DeboyUnited

Good points there, it think most man utd fans would agree with you on most of your article.

Midfield lacks creativity, only Young, Rooney and Nani can really do something different, and produce something special tbh.

and yes we will be back.

Didn't know that mate, i always assumed a straight red was a 3 game ban. I actually thought Evans had played very well up until that moment as well, however as seems akin to him, a simple error has cost himself and the team.

I think he's been unfairly blamed for the first goal as well, thought it was Rio who should have done better. He's just one of those players that people love to criticise.

Professional foul is 1 game ban dangerous play or violent conduct are 3

Pidier,

Funny that I thought he played well too. The guy seems to play well then does something really silly. This seem to happen almost every game (Torres could have punished him too). Unfortunately, his error tends to be costly.

Deboy,
Rio is now a spent force, he seems to spend most of his time an the silly Twitter than concentrating on his football.

I know you're all Man Utd fans and therefore want to be optimistic about the game, but even at 11 v 11, I think Man City were the better, more effective team.

Yes you had possession in the first 20 minutes or so but I think that is because Man City allowed you to. They wanted to catch you on the counter and the only way to do that is too allow you to push forward. And in the 21st minute it paid off with their goal.

You put a few crosses into the box, all of which were cleared pretty easily but I can't remember you having a proper shot on goal in the first half.

I'm not trying to wum, I'm hoping to get into a decent debate. You have to admit that since the Chelsea game you haven't played well at all. An unconvincing win against Norwich, a draw against Stoke and Basel, a draw against us, an unconvining win against a poor Romanian team, and then a thrashing from your noisy neighbours. At the moment I think Chelsea and Man City look better than you.

FatJan,

Nobody is trying to be optimistic over a 6-1 home loss. However, it needs to be put in perspecctive. Read the points that I have raised and the comments of the other United fans and you'll notice the same theme. It's called seeing the bigger picture. I find it funny when people say a win was unconvincing forgeting that if both teams get their tactic right in a game, it usually takes a mistake or an individual brilliance to win the game. This is what people tend to classify as unconvincing win.

If you do put into into perspective then in your last six games you have beaten Norwich and the Romanian team (both games you expected to win), drawn 3 games and lost one. The Norwich and Romanian games were unconvincing because they are both games that, given your quality, you should have strolled but you found it difficult in both games. Noriwch could have got something from that game, and it took two penalties to beat the Romanian team.

The point I'm trying to make is that I think there is a problem with your overall set up this season, and putting the freak result from Sunday aside, I think it is something that needs to be addressed.

FatJan,

I quite agree with u that there is an issue to be addressed. We are not at our best yet and we traditionally dont get there till about Xmas. We'll definitely get better especially with a settled back 4 in place. Our blistering start to the season notwithstanding, we are yet to click into top gear.

Fatjan,

Notice also how both Chelsea and yourselves struggled against Norwich. The Basle game, just like against city, the defence just went crazy. I believe a settled back 4 will limit this. Like I said, we still have to step it up in the defence and I have no doubt that we will.

I agree with FatJan, In the first 20mins before City's first goal we had 70% possession according to the Sky stats bar. In that time we failed to create the slightest of chances on goal, yet alone a clear cut chance. Rooney, Nani and Young constantly gave the ball away in the final third, in fact the only reason we had so much possession was thanks to Anderson, Fletch and Evans (who had had a great start to the game, but went down hill after he slipt and gave Ballotelli space as a result).

Everyone blames Evans and the CMs, but it is very hard when your forward players are constantly loosing the ball. The City players on the other hand were efficient and clinical.

Perhaps you should try to reky less on media stats and your obviously inadequate memory if you really think United made no chances. Evans had the best chance, one that the likes of Rooney, Nani or Young would likely have buried, when he swunf his right leg at a ball when he was a couple of yrds from goal and the ball hit his standing leg.

The Evans chance was after the city goal, not in the the first 20mins.

Where was Vidic by the way?

posted on 25/10/11

There were class strikers in the opposition so he swerved the game to avoid spoiling his rep as a good defender....

posted on 25/10/11

Sir Alex didn't want to risk him, as Vidic tends to do daft things when he isn't fully fit...

posted on 25/10/11

So he played midweek, gets sent off & then he's not even in the squad for the derby?

strange.

How things change, and in a hurry! Not too long ago Man. U was happy when the referees added additional time to a game, especially when they were looking for a winner. Last Sunday, Fergie must have been praying for this mess to end!
