Some places in east germany are GRIM. Demographics distorted by women leaving, no jobs, young males joining radical groups, social deprivation....I beleive these are towns in Brandenburg.
Listen to The Civil Wars.
I am writing an essay about The Unit, has anyone read it?
No, never heard of it, but for all book discussion see this thread:

Personally I find reading a great pasttime. I never used to, but within the last year I;ve read a load of books, prior to this my only reading was of academic books/newspapers and the odd work of fiction once or twice a year.
You should find material that will interest you, or perhaps you don't appreciate literature. MAYBE you can learn to.
A great book > a great film

any suggestions for a good book?

Another thing with reading it's practically FREE.
Suggestion wise depends on your own preferences really.
A 19th century novel I'd recommend are war and peace and the count of monte cristo, although both are very long.

I think it is Spurs judging by your article history
The game is a great book. The unit is an excelled book. A dystopian society, where woman of over 50 and men of over 60 are taken away to these units and their bodies are used for testing and organ transplantations and so forth until they eventually die. It's pretty much a world where your life is only valued until you reach those ages. I would recommend it to anyone, its a pretty easy read as well.
i will look at both pf them. cheers!
Pidier, I have just ordered The Unit from my local library on your recommendation, sounds just up my street. I love a good story. Who is the author of The Game that you mentioned?
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
Powerful. Woken up at 5am in -20 degrees to labour all day without food guarentted.
