This post just shows how uneducated you are.

Darts may not have the same physical exertion as football, rugby or athletics, but are still using leg, arm and back muscles in throwing darts.

As for the beer mug - you may still be sat in your cave to realise that alcohol is not consumed within professional events.

In respect of the skill issue, Beckham may "curl one out" into the top corner, Wilkinson may bop his conversion over from all over the shop, Linford Christie may be able to run 100 metres quicker than I can drive it. But do these, or your goodself, have the ability and skill to throw three arrows into a gap the size of a treble? Doubt you'd even hit the board poppet.

So as far as your questions or opinions, complete bilge!

Darts is a Sport as it has a Governing Body.
Anything with a Governing Body is a Sport....END OF.

No but he is obviously quite an accomplished WUM. Just ignore these sad inadequates and hopefully they will go away. For what it's worth my position is this: -

a) Darts IS a sport
b) Even if it isn't I don't care because it's ace!

Standing still and throwing something weighing less than a cushion is not a sport, its a passtime albeit a popular one.

I remember debating on old 606 numerous times on this topic and many people have strong opinions on whether darts is a sport or not.

While I respect opinions, darts was first recognised as a sport by the UK Sport Council in 2003, and Sports England in 2005.

In 2007 darts was unanimously accepted as a full member of the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) - now SportAccord.

In fact as a prerequisite to be considered as a guest sport at the Olympics 2012, darts already had to be officially recognised as a sport.

Darts is also recognised as a sport by 67 nations across the six continents of Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America, and over 90% of the 67 countries who are members of the World Dart Federation have their countries government's sports authorities recognising darts as a sport.

But why should personal opinion get in the way of factual evidence.

darts, just like cue sports take a huge amount of skill, if not physical exersion, so for that reason i consider vdarts to be a sport

This is a thread about the sport of darts, not fishing.

What about snooker ? Is that a sport ?

Depends in which country you are in. Some countries governments officially recognise snooker as a sport, and some do not.

For example in China over 50 million people play snooker and it is the 3rd largest sport behind basketball and table tennis, and it is officially recognised as a sport.

However in Antarctica – not so much…
