The EPPP is a crock.

Just another example of the big fish getting their way. And to throw in the 'the future of English talent' is just bull-hit. We've had 'the golden generation' and they failed. This is a knee-jerk reaction by those at the FA backed up by those with vested interests in grabbing the cream of these islands youth for peanuts. It's all very well arguing that the youth will learn by playing/training with 'quality' players etc etc BUT the fact remains they seldom will. Many of them will become disallusioned due to their respective clubs buying foreign talent to compete with the other big sides buying foreign talent for quick results!!!! That's what the big clubs do and will continue to do!!!!!

The rich get richer and f--k the rest. Just my thoughts.

Bostock (the fact that his attitude stinks is a side issue) is an ideal example of a quality youngster being bought by a big club that were basically afraid of someone else getting him and then quickly loaning him back out to a smaller club!!!!! This will happen time and time again unfortunately....................imo.

Rant over

I think Steve Parish has summed up what most Palace fans think. I don't know if anyone has read his article in the program on Saturday but he makes some key points.

On SSN he said how our youth team went to Chelsea and beat them 4-0 so how can they say that only the top 6-8 teams do it best.

He also made some interesting points saying that Crystal Palace will do their best to stay within the rules and will consider becoming a category 1 academy. Also that the players here at Palace are local and the academy and the 'South London and proud' attitude is to show that we are a community and the club are actively involved in that community.

And in regards to finance he said you would never be forced to allow your competitors to come and look at your best assets and then pick what they want with a fixed price. In regards to finance it's not the compensation but the idea that it should be done as a free market.

Another thing is that the FA introduced this to improve the England team, so how come they can take non-English players?

There's so many things wrong with the EPPP and it's the Premier League greed and the FA's fault. The most annoying thing on the SSN report was the WHU representative trying to defend it. They need to stop living in a dream world and realise their place in football!

To me that sums up our club and many more across the country..............................
For the FA to 'bend' to the demands of the Premiership elite who scour the planet for young talent of which 99% will be told 'sorry son, your not good enough' is friggin' appalling imo. The worst thing is i'm not surprised and neither are those who i talk to. The game is going to s--t in most opinions i hear.........re-players wages, the 'top 4 or 5 or 6' or whatever it will be next week and now the EPPP debacle!

Oh well.

I guess, like everything, these things happen in cycles and constantly changing. Unfortunately I'm too young to remember Crystal Palace in the early 90s and I can't imagine what football was like in the 70s but from what I've heard it seems like we're always the underdogs? Hopefully new rules will come in to regulate finances, etc and try and make football more of a level playing field and not who has the biggest transfer budget.

The stories I hear about Crystal Palace it seems to sum up community football. Unfortunately it seems in Croydon there's more of a Liverpool vs Man Utd or Chelsea vs Arsenal rivarly.

But that is life. When God gives you melons, find a God who can spell.
