i didn't know you could do that! i just didn't add a manager at the start and set 'continue time out' in the options to instant, it takes about 10 mins to go through a season.

I just downloaded CM-0102 and have been happily playing away in what I reckon is the best of the series.

Its so quick and the games are so simple. None of this wasting time on tactics and training. I mean who needs all that?

The best players all in their prime. The Zidane's, Vieira, Henry, Crespo the lot!

Would be interesting to see where Arsenal end up in 20 years.

What do you make of Steam? Is it ok to use? Have used it on FM09 and it was fine really, just not sure why I need to download the game even when I have bought the disk!?!

Sometimes i fast forward 2 or 3 years so you have more generated players in the games, otherwise i end up signing the same players who are available from the beginning and it gets a bit boring.

and i know what you mean about tactics and training and all that, for me the most fun is transfers and finding some amazing unknown 16 year old. i just go to the SI games forum and download a tactic from those hardcore players

i use Steam because i play some other games on there too, it probably doesn't make too much difference. if there's updates it will do them automatically though which is decent. if you installed by CD it won't be in the 'steam' folder, you might be able to move all the files there but not sure if that will def work.

I think there is a way to play in offline mode so it should be ok. Can't wait to buy the new one.

sign paoulo henrique chigas de lima. he plays for santos i think and he is awesome. i managed to snap him up on '11 for a misely 25 mill.

i think the last time i paid anything like that for a player was on about the '01 edition

ZZ do you just 'steal' your players now?

first thing i do if i start as a big club, or first thing as soon as i can if a smaller one is to get my scouts out to central africa, central america and south america, all told to look for players below 18. sign them up for peanuts and develop them, some make it, some don't, but every game i end up finding 4 or 5 players who go on to be monsters.

I very rarely pay more than 5m for anyone, usually more like 1 or 2 (apart from the africans... they often come in for less than 100k)

I hated 01/02 I could never win the Champions League in that version. The Roma team was god like, they would hammer me whenever we met. One time they had 2 players sent off (and I scored both penalties) and they still came back to beat me 3-2. I think it was bloody Vincenzo Montella who always ripped apart my defence.

My favourite game I ever had was with Roma on 01-02. Signed Torricelli and Tsigalko first season and that was pretty much it for the rest of the world. My achievements feel somewhat lessened now I realise how stupidly good that team was already.

Candela, Samuel, Totti, Delvecchio, Montella etc. loved that team. Got Sheva on a free from Milan as well Two of my best players on that game who were crap on every other one I started were David Livermore (best left-back on the game) and Mike Zonneveld (LM). I got bored in about 2014, wish I'd kept the game though.

You can download it free now off the net and its a great way of wasting away a few hours.

Great game, I downloaded it the other day. Its even got updates to bring teams/players up to date but I prefer the great players of those days, with guys like Raul, Henry in their peaks!

FM09. Won the Quadruple at Man Utd, Welbeck top scorer with 46 in all competitions. Then next season, start it on fire. Rafael gets sent off in European Super Cup, lost 3-0 to ROMA! (Best team ever in FM09) and my whole season collapsed. Came 11th, got fired.

Oh yeah not sure if you saw my dilemma article where Tottenham were running away with the league, but I managed to reel them in and in the end I only beat Man Utd to the title by goal difference!
