I do recognise that, FanDennis, even if half of the time it was happening in Div 1. But going back to Pearson? It would just feel all wrong, wrong, wrong....
News of 'an approach' for Nige "in connection with the vacant manager's position at Leicester" was mentioned a few minutes ago during the commentary.
"We shall have to see how that one developes" was said.
Malling, I always respect your opinions but in the case of Pearson I have to totally disagree with you. In my opinion he was (and still can be) the best manager since MON. I posted a few times when he was manager urging the supporters to let the management, and the man himself, just how much he was appreciated, otherwise I feared that he would move on. Several replies ridiculed my posts, especially when I dared to put him on a similar pedestal to 'God' (MON) Allowing him to leave in the manner he did was both stupid and insulting to someone I consider to be a gentleman and equally as stupid as sacking Sven (even though I was never a fan)
I would welcome him back with open arms, although I will be very surprised if it materialises. He may be dour and dull but he has the nucleus of a very good team and I firmly believe he would move it forward and not backward as you appear to be suggesting.
As for the poster boy image (or lack there of) do you 'really' care?
One more comment. If he does come back a certain Mr Beckford will have to buck his ideas up or quickly become the next DJ.
'We are playing better football now than we have for a long time'
Completely disagree, I think this season we have generally played negative football without confidence.
I loved the feeling around the club under Pearson, there was a real togetherness and spirit amongst the fans.
I wouldn't be delighted if we appointed Pearson but I wouldn't be disappointed either. It would annoy me that we've actually admitted to making no progress in the last 18 months.
I'm not sure how things would go in a different situation (which this is) but we shouldn't underestimate the job he did here, nor must we delude ourselves into thinking he played terrible football all the while or that we've played better since he left.
You are right, Montreal, I couldn't really care less whether City go over big in SE Asia, save insofar as it might generate sums to be invested back into the club. But it does matter to our owners, and Pearson would seem unlikely to satisfy them as an Ambassador, with potential for awkwardness.
For the rest, I would not be confident that Pearson has the imagination to get out of Sven's squad everything I am sure is in it. Pace Emilio, I do very firmly believe that we are playing better football than for many years, not consistently for sure, but of a really good quality, and that there was more and still better to come under Sven.
I don't at all under-rate estimate the job Pearson did for us - and said as much - nor do I think we played terrible football under him. If he is left sitting on the last chair when the music stops, I shall naturally give him my full support, hope to be proved wrong, and thank the stars that he is not Keane, McLaren, Dowie or Keegan.
But I shall forever regret that the club had the vision to appoint a world-class manager and to back him in the transfer market, but not the courage to then trust their judgement when the first wobble - hardly even a wobble - came along. It seems to me very sad.
Malling - I'd argue that Sousa had as many good 90 minute performances with us as Sven had with us this season.
I think it's sad that we appointed Sven in the first place, we did for the wrong reasons, for his image and not his managerial prowess.
I also think it's sad we let Pearson go for the wrong reasons, we've gone backwards since.
O' Neill is the obvious stand out candidate, but I just don't see it happening - it's 2 weeks since Eriksson left, surely this is long enough for MON to make a decision. So of the remaining candidates, I've no problem with Pearson returning - he may be dour, but as long as he gets the job done that's all that matters. Has a decent track record in this league and with the money available and the scouting talents of Steve Walsh it wouldn't be the worst appointment. It will be interesting to see what happens to Fryatt, Hobbs and Waghorn!
I wonder what he will make of Sol Bamba!!
This would back up what I have heard today, and as you say Erik. from a source we all know. At least some of the more scary names can throw in the towel.
Top has said that 'if Leicester get promotion to the Premier League, the Thai people won't care about the manager's name'. I think he has realised that big name managers aren't always a definite route to success, especially in such a unique division like the Championship.
I don't think we played that badly under Pearson. There were times when we played great stuff just before the play-offs and we won 3 home games scoring 4 goals I think it was. Don't get me wrong, there were times when we really had to slug it out for victories but that is what all good teams have to do (you could argue the difference between Man Utd and Arsenal for instance is that the former can grind out wins) and we couldn't do that under Sven and that was our biggest, and alarmingly recurring problem.
I still think Sven should have had more time but Pearson would be no disastrous appointment and there is nothing wrong in admitting that sometimes, you have to go back to go forwards.
I think what would suit the Thai owners most is winning games, something Pearson got us doing regularly in his last stint with less quality and finance at his disposal.
I also think most fans will be happier watching us win than play good football and not win.
I was not in favour of Sven being sacked because we can only speculate on what he could've achieved. But...it has happened and I would be very happy to be watching that flat-top in the technical area again.
And as I've said in a previous post somewhere...
I would prefer Pearson on a 3 1/2 year contract than O'Neill on a 6 month contract.

BBC Radio Humberside say they expect an approach from us at some point after today's game i.e. some time soon.
Would a certain Fleckney-residing, East-end, 'Turkish' midfielder be the coveted source by any chance? Naming no names of course...
Pearson on the Radio:
"Are you interested in the Leicester job"
"Ask the club if there's been an approach. I'm not going to deny any rumours because it's not my job"
Nige Pearson was interviewed by David Burns at the KC just now. He avoided the issue (of an approach)-not very well I think. It sounds very much like 'an approach' will take place soon if it hasn't already taken place.
No! Although one part of applies to the source! Has that given it away?!
'one part of applies to the source'
One part of WHAT?? We're desperate man!!!!
Makes a change then Eriksson - he normally is
Well he's not Turkish and he doesn't live in Fleckney
Isn't Pearson contracted at Hull for quite a long time?
If so, this will mean the compensation will be substantial.
I wonder whether Hull want the money more than Pearson? Is Pearson about to be shoehorned out of another job which he doesn't really want to leave?
Does the person linked to the club go drinking in Wigston after games?
I'm not sure on that one Stourbridge!
