So what we have seen over two transfer windows is £27m spent (£13.5m for each window).

Not at all.

We have used youth like Spearing, Flanagan, Kelly, Wilson, Robinson...to replace the deadwood. The majority of players who have been sold weren't even needed to be replaced.

We had to cut wages also.

The wage bill as gone down aswell... Good thread.. We havent been playing badly this season. Just havent got the results as yet..

Liverpool have been hammered for their buys but I don't think they're all that bad. Suarez and Enrique have impressed me when I've seen them and despite Adam's faults, he excites me.

Carroll is a tricky one, too early to judge but very clumsy looking. His goal against Wets Brom though was a delicate outside of the boot effort, confusing player. £35 mil is a lot of dosh so time will decide if Kennys spent well on him.

work in progress guys

city didnt magically just become a top 4 side when they first got their money, it will take a year or two to get it right

Kenny could be the man to do it but the fans just need to realise 0-0 draws arent the end of the world (thanks to FatJan for the good article the other day)

I think in a funny way our excellent form in the 2nd half of last season has raised hopes a little too much for this. Had we shown this kind of form in the 2nd half of last season fans would have been happy enough to see us moving forward from the dire rubbish under Hodgson.

Just remember where we were this time last season and how we are playing. We HAVE moved forward. Just not as far as some would have liked.

I'm over my doom and gloom weekend. I never expected us to come close to the top two but I was expecting us to be challenging for forth and from what I have seen, we should be. We have outperformed the opposition in every game we've played this season apart from Spurs.

However when you don't take your chances, you suffer and this carries on to your next games and it becomes a regular occurrence and the only way in my opinion to defeat that is to change it, don't stick with it. When smaller clubs are defending the fort and you're launching missiles at it but the missiles aren't penetrating, you don't keep doing it, you find another way.

So for me the task for Kenny and Steve is to come up with another way.

Regardless, this may pale into insignificance, as we are playing Chelsea and City next and we know how to play these games, so by the time it comes to playing weaker teams again we might have hit a run of confidence and start banging them in, I honestly thought that day would be Saturday but it wasn't to be.

Anyhow, I am still optimistic for forth. There is a long season ahead.

For anybody who saw the state if our reserve team last year with the likes of Konch, Poulsen and Degan playing will appreciate we are better off with a smaller senior squad with young players coming through.

It's amazing to think that nearly all the Academy players have been promoted to the ressies while younger players have replaced them.

However there are players out there I wish we had signed such as Javi Martinez. Still you can have it all.

No, no it isn't you silly person. In general teams lose when they play badly, so they can't say they're losing whilst not playing badly. Do try to have a bit of knowledge about the subject you're talking about before giving an opinion, as it make you look quite a fool, not for the first time either.

i like your sentinent....but so far its a case of what could have been...some of the tactics have been very poor against the likes of norwich and swansea...i also think we chose the wrong players for a lot of the games and players out of position (barmy)..We should be in a better position. Henderson is not a right sided player in a 442...everyone except Kenny seems to know this...same as Adam&Lucas in a 442.
Im convinced even thoough we cannot prove it that Maxi and Bellamy starting wud have made a greater impact than Henderson and either Carroll or Downing

That's the worry though, isn't it.
We've brought in £75m worth of attacking talent in Carroll, Suarez, Downing and Bellamy and can't seem to find the net.

Well it is a worry and there are many factors in play here and questions that need to be asked.

Firstly new players need time. Then you have players with confidence problems. Players playing out of position.

For me the main problem is the rigid 4-4-2 against smaller clubs.

John Henry is already making good profit at Liverpool. The financial adviser who often pops up on ssn said that the money recouped on players has meant that the net profit is under 30 million but the standard chartered deal has provided the club with 25 million. Warrior sports will give the club another 25 million through kit manufacturing and we haven't even mentioned gates and merchandise

I`m just glad Comolli is wasting your money these days rather than ours.
