just relised my above comment is a little TL:DR
to be honest, they aren't likely to make too many changes to a game that has been a bestseller for years, but the updates they have done on cod really work this time.
I haven't yet played bf3, but 2 of my mates have said they already regret buying it, and one of them has already put it on ebay.
Graphically its the best game to date!
Game play! - Well you can't take campers out the game, IW have tried!
MW3 sold 9.3 million copies on the first day of its release, broke the previous record held by Black Ops as the biggest entertainment launch...wow. CoD franchise has become absolutely huge.

Been thinking about getting a console for ages 'cos I love the look of these new games advertised on TV. Back in the day I was a DOOM hero
My question is do you need to play the series in order or could I just jump in and start on the latest, MW3?
cheers MTH
For multiplayer you can bounce straight in at MW3, if you're also interested in the campaign mode, then I'd advise starting at MW1 (not completely necessary but I'd recommend it to get to know the story and characters).
I brought mw3 last week and while I haven't had the chance to play it much what I've seen so far I think it's an excellent game. I'm about 25% through the campaign and it's decent so far. The mission where you are on the plane with the Russians is excellent so hopefully more of that to come.
The spec ops is also excellent again. Could be to do with me being a pretty terrible player but it's seems really hard this year even on the 1 star missions. Suppose this is a good thing wouldn't want the game to be to easy. Also enjoy the survival mode reminds me of zombies on black ops managed to get to level 16 earlier.
Have only played a couple hours multiplayer but seems ok. Enjoying most of the new maps.
Overall I think it's a great game. I had bf3 and I think it's comes nowhere near mw3. The campaign doesn't seem as good, the graphics are a lot worse and you can't even play split screen which is ridiculous.
TheRZA, did you like the mission in London when you are trying to find the trucks? When you play the part of the guy holding the camcorder? I had a feeling that was going to happen and was unwilling to move forward
I still havent started the campaign yet... #addictedtoonline

same here. I've decided not to play it until i can get hold of a copy of mw1, so i can play the 3 campaigns back-to-back, as the only one ive ever played is mw2.
had a 'mare online last night.... either my reactions were way off or i had loads of lag or both, cos people were constantly killing me before i'd seen them. seemed every round i was in was full of campers too, and as i'm constantly running around at the moment trying to learn the maps, i got hammered.

Anyone fancy trying to do all the Spec Ops missions on veteran with me?
I try online, but everyone seems to only do easy or regular
I bossed Spec Ops veteran on MW2!
Can you do spec ops online now? Id do it with you but i was sure it was split screen
Yh, you can play online on spec ops
I'm 3/10 through the campaign
im only 17% thro campaign so far. gonna have another bash tonight hopefully. only prob is im addicted to fifa 12 and just got promoted to div 6 on h2h seasons. so might not happen!
Spec ops is rock-hard this time around. admittedly i was split screen with my appalingly bad mate so was doing double the work, but even so, even on one star it's hard going.
The campaign i'm not going to play until i get mw1 so i can do all 3 together... but the online is great i'm doing really quite terribly though, taking forever to imprint the maps onto my tiny brain.
Maps are tiny!. which means more gun on gun action!
But I have noticed in the last few days.. CAMPERS
Walk round corner <boom>
CAMPER
respawn
Walk round corner <boom>
CAMPER
Camper
Maps are tiny!.
---------------------------
you appear to have the wrong game.
the only maps i would consider even remotely small is 'dome' other than that, they all seem bigger than on mw2, as well as more complex.
Campers always exist when people are learning the maps, because they don't want their stats to go too low as they do... at the moment pretty much everyone below level 50 is learning, so there's lots of campers.
this is clearly the reason i am doing so badly as i don't camp... i learn by running around... i'm not terrible, honest.
ZZ
I just run around all the time! I hate camping
Thats why I'm so bad at the game
im absolutelg she-ite. dont camp either.
guess its just more about taking part for me
