Fairly obvious what the team will be, would love to see Hunt start as his delivery is better than Duff and McGeady's
Not sure about Kelly but Ward in my opinion is a good player. Plenty of experience in that line up so no excuses if they don't qualify
Hunt in for McGeady and that would be it i think! or i hope!
Hunt runs around like a headless chicken. I much prefer McGeady. I'd like to see Coleman in for Kelly but otherwise no complaints
Hunt has value as an impact player when needed. McGeady can still be very frustrating with his final ball delivery. However he has learned how to track back - he did a great job covering for Ward in Moscow - and that's the reason he's a Trap first pick now. The op's team will probably be the team, though I thought Trap would go with Cox initially.
We'll see but Walters would be a better option than Cox. Although Cox has done nothing wrong at all in an Irish shirt, Walters may have more to offer.
I agree, thank god McGeady has learnt how to defend properly, because in the games against Slovakia and Russia he offered absolutely nothing in attack, when we needed it baaaadly!
In our team at the moment, too much weight lies on Damien Duff to produce quality crosses into the box because McGeady just can't seem to do this. Lots of pace and trickery but zero end product.
I'd take Hunt or even Lawrence (if he wasn't injured) over McGeady on current form because you at least know they will always supply that quality final ball.
St Ledger concerns me because despite being in the championship, the likes of Zinedine Kilbane and even Andy Keogh are getting more game time than him at the moment and I don't see how he'll be 100% match sharp for Friday.
Walters has to start, he's so high on confidence right now and surely he's the type of player that Trap would adore.
What's with all the McGeady bashing? In his last two games, he's scored and had an assist. Liam Lawrence ahead of McGeady, FFS, you must be joking. He was woeful at home to Russia and has not started a competitive game since. I don't think that Lawrence should even be in the squad. He's a nothing player, average at best. The Championship is his level, not international football.
I think we need to stop building Mc geady up into being some sort of superstar. He's not.
He is a good player . But in the words of Eamon Dunphy he "is not a Great player!!!!"
I only like Dunphy because he stirs it up and speaks his mind, however Dunphy wouldn't even class Ronaldo as being a great player, which he certainly is.
McGeady's a decent player, one of our better players and people should get off his back. There's a lot of weaker players in the team who don't get half as much greif.
Come on the lads!!!!!!!!!!
