United Sanchez bid confirmed

No it doesn't. It means that rather than buy a big name CM, we are buying Sanchez and likely moving Park into CM finally. I'd hoped Fergie would have gone for this, but not Sanchez, I'd rather go after Bale for that kind of money.

I wouldn't like to see Nani go as he's probably the most entertaining player we have, and when on form last season was by far the best winger in the Prem.

To be honest I've not seen loads of Sanchez, but from what I have seen he looks pretty good.

I don't know what to make of Bale, it felt to me like he only had a handful of top games last season but the media made it seem like he was immense all year. Is he really THAT good? I know he's only young so you can't ask for top performances every week (just look at Nani!)

Bale is also injury prone - to be having back problems and little niggles like that at his age doesnt bode well

What I want is for SAF to sign a couple of decent midfielders.
I dont give a rats for Sanchez.

"The offers have all come from these clubs. We don't want to create a bidding war, but he is the big name on the transfer market at the moment and everyone wants him."

ie - we want to create a bidding war.
I can't see United getting him, to be honest, as I don't think we could bid the most (that would obviously be City), and with Barca circulating, I would have thought they would be hard to turn down, given the dominance they have at present.

I don't believe that Sanchez is a 'boyhood United fan', as reported, I think he maybe once said something complementary about United in the last 18 months, and that was mis-interpreted, or rather exaggerated, but I doubt he has any heart-felt support for United.

I'd be very surprised if, given the choice, he doesn't end up at Barca.

He's hugely overrated, but still a very very good player (similar in ability I'd say to Valencia, but more versatile and a better striker of the ball). What he would offer though is a left footed player to play infront of Fabio, which would bring out the best of his game at LB where he truly is a genius for his age utilised in the right way, and proper left footed cover for Evra as well, as Evra's performances are steadily dropping due, I believe, to over use and his age. He's also a good freekick taker and decent in the air

For his ability and potential, twenty five million.

Because he's British, and our squad is screaming for that kind of player, thirty seven and a half million.

Sad but true. :/

Rooney's Barber - who would you like to see come in if you could pick? I agree we need a central midfielder, someone in the same mould as Hargreaves (minus the glass body) would be my shout but don't know who that could be!

I'm just getting excited about a transfer of this size, that's all, but doubt it'll happen really!

MartyMUFC - he did state it during an interview on TV last summer.

If we do get him i still think we'll buy a centre mid. I think Nani will be used as a player plus cash deal for sneijder.

How about Phil Jones? Just a thought.

Elvis - I know people have suggested that. Has he played as a defensive midfielder before? I've only heard of him as a centre back so don't know. Could be an option if he's suited for the role?

Yeh he has. He played a fair few games there towards the end of the season as Kean ousted him from the defence in favour of experience. It actually think that is where he has been signed for. With Smalling doing so well and Evans also a reasonable backup, we dont really need another young CB. And at 5ft 11" he is a little short for a CB and I think that he may well play the majority of his footy at United in a DM role.

Fabio Cannavaro was 5,8.

Is Phil Jones really only 5'11? he looks much bigger?

Apparently we have put a 10mill bid in for Varane so maybe jones will be used in midfield - with Varene at the back or maybe vice versa?

No he wasnt. He was 5ft 9.5.

Still short though for a CB.

If rumours that Sanchez is a United supporter are true
===========================================

they never are. robbie keane was the worst - every club he signed for was 'my boyhood club'

players care about 3 things - trophies, getting a game and money. i daresay if barca promise him a few games a season he'll sign for them.

I thought that was supposed to be Rodrigo Possebon but he was unlucky to get injured and the rest was history

Said the same thing yesterday mate - Possbeon looked to be just the sort of player we need now. Good passer, keeps possesion, dictates the tempo etc - sadly that pogetetz challenged seems to have ruined him

They are true, he said it during an interview on Chilean TV last summer. This is his quote:

“Manchester United has been my dream all my life and they would be my first choice,”

that's settled it then.

a summer chilean tv chat show is like having it written in stone and read from the mountain.

never believe it when a player says X and Y club are my favorite.

Why would we want another winger ???

Surely Fergie can see what we need, and if he cannot then I'm worried.

We've lost Scholes, Hargreaves has retired, Gibson is leaving and we simply MUST sign a world class midfielder not more wingers

We are getting Young so why waste 35 million on another winger ???

Bid for Sneijder not Sanchez !!!
