haha I saw this yesterday, nearly cried!
Good luck to him but he was dreadful
I don't think he was dreadful; just not good enough. At least he always gave 100%.
He was never as bad as Alan Rogers or Ryan Mcgivern, which makes average
"I had a few offers from England but nothing that was really appealing to me, so I am glad to be back playing in the SPL again."
Shame. I think he could have done a job for Hinckley United.
Morning foxes and thanks for your interesting insight regarding Neilson. The guy has experience and at the moment that could be crucial to us.
I hope your season picks up soon, starting with Palace on Sunday. Couldn't get too much worse though after hiring the Swdish Sh@gger and wasting millions.
"Couldn't get too much worse"
Jeeezz , anyone would think we're sat in the relegation places. We're a few points away from play offs and autos, so actually yes it could be much worse.
And as for wasting millions, lets have a look at our best players this season:
Nugent - Free
Bamba - 0.25 mill
Schmeical - 1 mill
Okay we spent 5 mill on Mills who is showing that value. So all in all I would hardly say we've wasted money
Well said, B'poolfox.
If we have wasted any money, it might be that spent on Beckford. But the jury is still out on that: maybe Pearson can get him to wake his ideas up.
Yes, I didn't include Beckford as I think the Pearson signing could be make or break for him: He will either show his value, in which case he wont be a 'waste' or he will be rejected and moved on (for probably not too much cheaper than we paid due to his name and reputation) and obviously if he isnt playing we wont be paying everton the appearance and goal add ons in his contract, in which case we still won't have wasted too much money.
The players are a drop in the ocean guys considering what you must have payed Sven in wages and compensation when he was sacked. I'm sure Pearson will adopt a very different ethos although it seem some of you boys are a little unwilling to forgive and forget straight away.
It could have been much worse though, your board could have appointed Lennon
Think it's probably best to have a ja606 copy and paste reply that any of us can use for comments about the millions we've 'wasted'!
To be honest, there are plenty of fans much closer to home who have believed everything in the press, so I don't think it should be surprising that supporters north of the border will perhaps have been given a distorted view of our progress in recent times.
I had forgotten the details of his contract - yes, you were right to leave him out of the picture.
It has perhaps not occurred to some Foxes that, as this thread is co-assigned to the Dun U board, any sneers we post about Nielson are effectively wumming – so we shouldn't be too surprised if United fans are a touch disparaging in return.
Good luck Robbie and Dundee Utd.
Good luck indeed - I thought Neilsen did an honest and committed job for us, during a difficult period.
Apologies for my absence from this thread, my choob of a boss was hanging about with his bad smell!!
Thank you for your good wishes Foxes and accept them in return. I was interested now that Pearson was back what the target is for this year? Is it a push for the play-offs from here or do you think the top 2 is a possibility?
Hope you get up there
I'd be very happy with the playoffs myself. I think that with a bit of investment in january to bring in a class winger or two and i don't think the top 2 will be out of reach, but it's the championship, it won't be easy and it sure as hell will be as unpredictable as ever. Welcome back Nigel
Ideally the target would be top 2, hoping west ham and southampton don't run away too much, however personally I believe we'll finish 3rd /4th. I have no idea how we'll fair in the play offs as it is kind of a lottery after all...
I just hope we dont get knocked out / beaten by Blackpool or else I may die a little inside.
Blackpool, it's always hard living in ab place which is full of rival fans. As a United fan living in Fife i know this very well.
A decent run will put you right up there and I'm sure you're well capable of it. As you say though the Championship is so tight and the play-offs are a lottery.
It's funny you mention a good winger. Our boy Conway went to Cardiff and is doing really well, was on a free too.
I definately thought Goodwillie should have come to the championship first, before the prem. I think he's punching above his weight at Blackburn.
Goodie is a quality player Blackpool and he will show this in due course. The guy is a natural goalscorer, but is not getting played in his natural position at Rovers and has had a few injuries. It does not help that he is in and out of the team.
If he can get a couple of goals and a little run in the side people down there will see what a talent he is. It's difficult as Rovers are fighting for their lives down there and there is a graet deal of pressure on the manager.
My personal opinion is that £2.8 million is a steal for a guy who will be worth much more in a few years. Just delighted that he turned down Rangers
