Reina: We haven't missed Torres

On Torres current form I think Reina would indeed be right if he did say this. Suarez has been immeasurably better since he arrived in England

If you are talking the Torres of his heyday then any team in the world would be missing him, Chelsea certainly must be missing him

Chelsea signed Torres for a bargain, he began his Stamford Bridge career in superb form but it remains to be seen if he can keep it up.

maybe he means more then just on the pitch like off it? Any team in the world would miss an on form Torres because on form he is imo the best striker in the world.

Immeasurable? Well, let's try:

Suarez for Liverpool: 11 in 25 starts
Torres for Cheslea: 5 goals 21 starts

I concede Suarez has been better but the gulf is not that wide. Now before you say something about intangibles, note that Chelsea's record has been pretty good since Torres arrived.

In that case demba ba is better than them both, no?

I am obviously going to mention something about intangibles as it is valid.

If you're making a point about goals not being a reliable way to measure a sriker's performance, then maybe Torres hasn't been that bad afterall? I mean that's what everyone is talking about, his lack of goals. Suffice it to say taking many things into account, a lot of strikers have been better than both, perhaps Demba Ba included.

Agreed. Mention away.

It is widely accepted (even by yourself) that Suarez has been better than Torres, Torres is going through perhaps the worst form of his career - Suarez has been a revelation in a new league (very similar to the way Torres was).

I actually bear no bad feeling for Torres and feel sorry for him personally with the way things are going (I do think it's funny that Abramovich spent all that money on him, in much the same way opposition fans do with Carroll for us)

carroll was never a proven TOP striker torres was...

Suarez has been better but make no mistake the 4 goals Suarez has this season in the Prem is not exactly something to write home about.

Carroll?

Most people/pundits in football, even the biased ones, have said Suarez is one of the stand out players this season

I'm surprised you're bothered about what some goalkeeper (or any player) says. They'd all do well to follow Feyenoord's motto.

As for Torres, his failings this season are solely down to being in my dream team.

Izzy,

shouldn't you be more concerned about Sheffield Wednesday?

posted on 18/11/11

No. We're doing alright, thanks.

Sorry, I didn't realise fans from other clubs weren't allowed to voice an opinion..

I´ve been saying the same thing. Suarez hasn´t been that great this season.

He was better last season and seems to have dropped off a bit this season.

Also I strongly disagree with Reina that Liverpool don´t miss Torres. The Gerrard-Torres combo was awesome and Liverpool nearly won the title in that era.
