So what was different?

I didn't go either.

Could be motivation? Obviously we were really up for it against Stoke after the humiliation that they served us last time we met.

Maybe we didn't have the same motivation vs Stoke

Sorry, vs West Brom

I can't understand why a player's attitude to every game shouldn't be the same, and that excuse doesn't wash with me (not having a go at you Rowbot). These players are paid huge amounts to train for a couple of hours 5 days and then play one game of football. Who cares about past history or who you're playing against? The bottom line is, the attitude that was shown two weeks ago should be the seen every week.

Wasn't an excuse Mr. T. Just a suggestion.

It it coyles fault the team are not motivated then? I mean, the way we came out 2nd half....must have been a quality team talk...

Yes Rebel. That would be what I am suggesting.

I don't think it is simply down to motivation however. There are a lot more reasons why we beat Stoke 5-0 and then lost to West Brom the following game

I've come to the conclusion we are just an inconsistent side. Take away the games against Afc, cfc, mcfc, mufc and lfc. And here our are results:
A. QPR 4-0
H. Norwich 1-2
A.Wigan 3-1
H. Sunderland 0-2
A. Swansea 1-3
H. Stoke 5-0
A. West Brom 1-2

I would put good money on us beating Everton next week. We need to find away those narrow defeats into draws, games like S'land and Swansea, we've lost by 2 after going for a draw late on and being caught on the break, no matter how badly we've played. If we can start grabbing late goals we can start turning those defeats into draws.

Sadly our buys this season are not good enough or have not been. Besides three games wigan, qpr and Stoke I can't remember one of them being in anyway consistent. Add to that cracks showing in our older players like skd and jussi with no viable players signed to replace them plus some injuries to key players and we find ourselves bottom three with not enough of a sign we can turn it round. Odd results don't count. This I believe is what is wrong. Unfortunately we were duped at the beginning of the season. We were told that any signing would only be made if coyle thought they were quality and that skd still had it enough to start regular as captain. Sadly whether the bwfc staff knew this or not both of these were badly wrong.

There are two options open to us.

Back coyle in jan with money and go for it. If we go down he is sacked

Set him a points target for jan 1st and if it's not met sack him.

Relegation or passively accepting it will not be an option. Ask sammy Lee and megson about that one.

I am sick of losing and understand the reasons behind it. What I will not accept is nothing being done about it.

Players like Eagles seem to coast on previous performances. A mate of mine who is a Man U fan said that he only ever turns up when he's put under pressure. Look at last week, outstanding, place in team assured. This week appalling, probably great game next week. The problem isn't the team as a whole, it's inconsistent performers.

Davies was owned by Olssen all afternoon. I had an feeling that last week was a one off due to Upson but I had hoped different. Yet we continued to hoof it long to him and ever more strange, hoof it to Ngog as if he was going to fare any better.

When a team plays 5 in midfield with players as strong as WBA, you need to match it. That's the reason we had to hoof, and it's why we could never build, they outright out gunned us in midfield. This is from radio commentary so stop me if I'm wrong in any of this, just how it sounded.

I refuse to call for Coyle's head and I want be too maudlin about our season, we're a win off 15 and we still have plenty of winnable games ahead, although I do think the players need more of a beasting at the moment then an arm over the shoulder. Just hope Coyle gives it to them.

woody must have been good commentary,i saw the full match and they bossed midfield 2nd half.

I admit to being baffled....we were well in it for the first half. Second half was like a diferent team came out.
You can't lay blame at any individual....all of a sudden we couldn't pass a ball and resorted to the good 'ol hoof.
West Brom had the worst scoring record in all four divisions...3 goals ....up to today. We are good at getting other teams healthy. I suppose that's somat

I just wish we would toughen up a bit, and get some draws instead of losses against teams who are going to be around us near the bottom come the end of the season. Weve given three pionts too Sunderland Norwich West Brom Swansea...we really need to buck up against these teams. It may cost us later on come May.

I'm sorry but In what way did we have the worst scoring record??

Good game today, delighted you brought some fans for once lol

Baggiesfan....the commentator on the game mentioned you had the worst in all four divisions...maybe home goals? I wasn't paying much attention to be honest. 3 was quoted.

Don't listen to the commentators ;p

At home we had only scored 3, but quite frankly I don't care

I agree TRR ..The motivation for the Stoke game was there ...provided by the occasion ( the chance to ' pay 'em back). But most games require the manager to provide the motivation ...unfortunately .....
