Superbhoy...i dont believe you "missed it", more like you and a pal on a thread starter and feeder.
Yes Bert mentions two Rangers legends Amoruso and Albertz, both recently inducted into Rangers hall of fame to raptourous applause....incidentally both roman catholic which matters not a jot and shouldnt be even comment worthy, but i see why celtic fans are astonished because these simple facts blow their myths right out of the water.
Welcomed back with open arms.
Once a Ger always a Ger.
i genuinely did miss it mate, just typed his name into google and the daily record came up and it said
"Then when Lorenzo Amoruso and the Catholics at Rangers were told if they were going to cross themselves, to do it in the tunnel so the fans didn't get upset"
If this is true it really is shoking, you say they were recently added to the hall of fame, would they have if they blessed themselves on the pitch every game?? can you honestly they would have been loved at Rangers? i doubt it.
kayal
why is this even an issue for you in 2011?
its a well known fact that even in the dominating 90s it wasnt advisable to bless yourself in front of the fans, fortunately we have all moved on, can i ask why you cant
big jorge and amo were club captains we will always love them, come and join us
help for heroes,
Your talkin about this as if it was a long time ago i think konterman left rangers in 2004 (maybe wrong) and if he's coming out with comments like that i think its horrible that one of the biggest teams in Scotland are telling players they cant do certain things incase they offend the dregs of their support (i know most of the rangers fans are good guys). I dont think Rangers or any club should pander to the bigots.
I support the Rangers so it matters not
just like to say that since I am working nightshift for the time being that I say thank you ja606. or else we would have cap boyo breathing down our necks.
Why were they told not to bless themselves though when it is what they believe in and grew up with? Why would it upset anyone? And the Arveladze story in Linnfield is even worse!

kal-elbhoy, what if Celtic signed someone who liked to play an imaginary flute before the start of the match as he thinks it will help him and give him a lift.
Would Celtic let him do it in front of their fans?
It is no different sadly certain gestures will offend someone somewhere!
Celtic do not fly the flag of their Country
for fear of offending the Green Brigade
whom the club laud highly enough to
give them a seated area.
What a ridiculous comparison
Catholicism is a Religion where blessing yourself is a completely normal part of a genuine Catholics life. They choose to do it because they believe that it gives them strength from their God, the same God incidentally that Protestants believe in so why should it be seen to be offensive to a fellow Christian?
Playing an imaginery flute when playing Celtic however, is a deliberate attempt to wind up Irish Republicans,
If you watch any of the top leagues in Europe, you will know that players like Drogba, Ronaldo & Messi do it at every match and nowhere in Europe would it be regarded as offensive except Ibrox Stadium. It really does make you all look really silly and backwards but a lot of Rangers fans are too stubborn & stupid to realise how hateful it makes them look.
And don't tell me it's a minority because 50,000 members of the Scottish OO & the same amount of "hanger on" suggest otherwise.
The strange thing is that I cant understand how Scotland which has a decent education system can produce so many idiots that can't see how bigoted and stupid they look.
Boruc you have well and truly failed to see what I was saying, both gestures are intodays day and age are as stupid as each other and as i said it will always offend the offended.
A true christaian would probably pray for the soul of someone who played an imaginary flute instead of trying to get them jailed!
You can usually do better than that piishy
No, blessing yourself is not stupid and shouldn't be seen to be stupid. They do it because they truly believe that there is a supreme being who gives them life. They are not trying to be offensive when they do it and quite simply, it is not in anyway an offensive gesture.
Only in Scotland and Northern Ireland would it be considered to be offensive because of their hatred for The Vatican.
Now ask yourself this. Who should really be told to change their habit of a lifetime? An innocent Italian footballer who happens to have signed for Rangers and has blessed himself every time he stepped on to the pitch since he was little boy or the fans who bring shame on themselves, the club and Scotland in general for hating a religion?
When you look at it properly, did Rangers really do everything they could to avoid those 5 UEFA fines? Maybe if they hadn't continued with banning their own players from showing an act of faith or banning green pepperami or by cancelling eggs Benedict off the menu, they might have got it across to you all by now that it is you who needs to change, not everyone else!
