Morning all

Afternoon. Terry stripped of captaincy. Will it go to Rio? Uf so thats stupid as hes hardly a guarenteed starter...

Nah not Rio - " I don't want to be england captain after the last episode, just want to concentrate on playin for utd&if I make the squad then as ever I'll be delighted " (Twitter.)

I would not even take John Terry. It is clear as day what he has said to Anton Ferdinand, for me anayway.

If England actually want to give the tournament a proper crack, removing Terry would be a massive step in the right direction. All Media will be after him out there.

Also think making Gerrard captain would be a regressive step for England as he is in no way guaranteed to start.

I might be tempted to go for Joe Hart. He has made the England number 1 shirt his own and is bound to be England goalkeeper for many years to come.

Rooney might have been in with a decent shout had he not went and got himself banned

I had been hoping that since Vidic is out for a good while tat Ferguson would have played Phil Jones in centre defence for United, alongside Rio with Rafael/Smalling RB.

Then England could have looked at it and thought Jones n Rio for CB's.

Beware of Rio Jones. He will eat you up.

Surely everyone here can't have finished work at this time on a Friday? Yasss, Friday

Jones is a poor cb though. Id go for Parker or Hart as captain for Euros. Maybe Rooney for long term.

Parker would be an easy solution. No-one would really be unhappy from Liverpool, United, Chelsea (Ashley Cole is the next most capped player), Arsenal (Though doubt they even have an option for England captain bar the young Wilshire).

Andy Carrol for England... Mascot?

posted on 3/2/12

Fisher... He has barely played a run of games at CB for United all season. If he did he would be awesome! He was brilliant at CB for Blackburn before.

If he was to play 10 games sure there might be a few positional slip ups in there but not many at all once he has grew into the position after the first 10 games.
He is an ok height. His pace would be able to cover Rio and Rio would be able to talk him through the positional side of things.

Can't see Jones playing at cb anytime soon, Evans seems to be after Rio and Vidic, and he's had a great season despite the stick. United conceded 8 goals in the last 3 games he didn't play. Jones is even behind Smalling at cb.

Would say Rooney or Gerrard should get the captaincy if Rooney wasn't banned and Gerrard not injured so much.

Parker has only ever played a handful of games so would be surprised if he got it.

Why do the FA always wait? They could have made this decision the moment Terry was charged and knew he was going to court. Why wait for a public outcry before deciding. Whether the decision is right or wrong the FA are so frustrating.

Lamps for captain.

Might go down the bookies soon and put a few quid on Joe Hart.

It was inevitable he'd be stripped of the captaincy - imagine the uproar of a racist England captain. Right decision by the FA but as Guv said, it has been drawn out far too long.

It also raises questions whether or not he will actually be included in the squad itself. I think he has to be, England's best CB imo. Even though he's a...

Wouldn't put money on Joe Hart being the captain. Gerrard?

He looks like regaining his form and if he does that, he's a dead-cert in the midfield. Alongside Parker may I add, who's having a fantastic season.

Only a fleeting visit before I get home later but get predictions in please those of you who can't get on over the weekend.

Think my moneys going on Gerrard. Never like the idea of a goalkeeper as captain. And Parker doesn't have the experience with England, but maybe that wont matter.

posted on 3/2/12

Imagine the look on their faces when Terry is proven innocent.

This sets an example though now, anyone misbehaving whether guilty or not should not be England captain.

How Hart should be captain, he's going to be their longest. Can't be Gerrard, how can you say no to someone yet to be proven guilty but yes to someone who's guilty of assault?

posted on 3/2/12

This isn't the first time Terry's character has been questioned LSTD. And think there's a big difference, obviously not going to be good for the squad if the captain is accused of being a racist.

Gerrard committed an assault in a bar, was nothing to do with football.

Racism is a very emotive subject. Everyone is terrified of doing something that could be deemed wring or complicit. The FA should have said straight away that it was a serious charge and until resolved Terry would have to not be considered for captain or even the squad. Much too late now.

Lamps for captain.

Never been fond of a GK to be captain, however, Hart will be a long-term choice unless he majorly messes up goals.(hoping not)

Not really a good role model for England nowadays is there?

Sturridge for England captain! Someone who will take the responsibility when needed. Or rather hog the ball all the time lol

Frank Lampard I'd say was a good role model. Works very hard taking extra training sessions ect always putting max effort and someone who may not be deemed amazingly gifted but put in the work to achieve so much
