Amla should be close enough. I think he's 28 and 4,300 runs.

i just went down the list kashy. stopped at cook.

8,000 runs for Amla is about 7-8 years top cricket. not easy.

It would help Amla if SA played more cricket but you are right about Cook as he could go far and maybe beyond.

It would be nice to see who in the current crop of english test cricketers will break the english all time record for runs scored..Its looking like Kevin Pieterson will get there first.

Cook will. Not sure about Amla.

Darren Bravo has the talent to.

yes cook is the only player currently that can reach anywhere close to sachins record of runs. About dravid reaching 15000, it seems pretty impossible unless he plays for another 2 years. A more probable target for him would be 14000. sachin will reach 16k as he is just about 800 runs away. Yes we will not see this records being broken at all because of the sheer dedication you need a player to have for tests. 1 t20 game earns them money of about 5 test matches, so why would a player want to waste time on tests. Gambhir is a good example. When he made his debut, the amout of patience he had in tests was incredible and he was called the next wall, but these days he always like batting at rawilpindi express and after a couple of deliveries he is back in the dressing room.

Couple of English batters are strong contendors alongside Sangakarra.
