I tried cancelling my Sky Tv but I was told I wouldn't be able to cancel as it's a contract.

A bit of luck with the employee also helps.

I phoned Virginmedia one day just after Setanta collapsed to get Sky Sports to watch the OF game . Young Glaswegian lad on the phone for VM, I mention I'm a bluenose - he doubles the speed of my Broadband and halves the cost, and gives me constant £7 discount on Sky sports. He whispers in harsh Glaswegian dialect "if ye never cancel or chinge yer package they'll no' put the prices back up".
