Scholes hardly played???? Err Yes he did, alot in truth and played very well at the start of last season, and played many times in 2010......remember City, West Ham and Wolves with vital goals......or did that slip your mind?! Hargreaves was more for 2008, but he was there as a pick if needed. The point of my post, is that SAF had more to pick from than now......surely you must admit that!
and another thing on Scholes, he may only last 60 minutes now but My God he puts some of our players to shame when it comes to passing, controlling the ball and shooting. Likes Giggs, older by still utterly brilliant. And Giggs, just wow on Saturday, was fantastic at 38.......sums up our midfield really!
Hargreaves was more for 2008, but he was there as a pick if needed.
.................
He was on the physio table for three years out of four. Please.
Scholes missed one season with Eye injury. Came back and had a good season after, and then was poor (by his high standars) for his last two seasons.
His good games were outdone by his poor ones. SAF had to play 4-5-1 often to accomodate him.
Out of the last five years Carrick has been the most consistant CM along with Fletch. Everyone else has really been up and down, that includes Scholes and Giggs when he plays CM. Or in Gibbos case not there.

He has hardly played this season.
He still looks at his best when on the left wing. In the CM he can be a liability because he is not the best at keeping posession.
On Saturday he had a few great runs through the middle, but he had tired by about the 60th minute and gave the ball away a lot.
retired exactly my point! Scholes in 2010 was surberb, yes played in a 3 but it worked as we caught Chelsea up. Remember Milan away.....how good?? But you seem to have red tinted specs on and don't realise Uniteds midfield is utter dire at the moment. 1 player would dramatically improve it....only 1!!!! It wont happen, but we can all see it!
Would Carrick or Fletcher get into any other top sides 1st 11 or even the top 5 PL sides. Probably not.
I take it you didn't watch the match on Saturday if think Giggs faded, was uniteds best player by miles and right to the end......who set up Little pea?? We set up Vidic??? etc etc a few good runs, deary me

No he was not, He was superb in the first game against Newcastle, and was good for a few more after that, but age caught up with him after that, and he was pretty average to being a liability for the rest of the season.

Nothing to do with Giggs. You obvioulsly didn't watch the game.

What do you mean by as well?
I just give up! If you think Carrick was Uniteds best player on saturday you need help. One thing that Scholes did against Barca......passed the thing forward, did you see Inestia and Co back off when he got the ball???? In 15 minutes, did a hell of alot more than any United player....and the Barca players know this guy is class even at 35! But his time is up, but the OP post is about our present midfield, and it's total pants summed up by the fact Rooney has to play in there! I'm afriad we cannot afford who SAF wants, until summer we'll have to make do!
Vidicchin....the one that was disallowed last seconds as you say he faded.....by the way my seat is 77 row ss stretford end, so yes I watche dteh game!
What do you mean by as well?
============================
In addition to playing well against Newcastle. Hes a class player Giggs, even at 38!
Scholes missed one season with Eye injury. Came back and had a good season after, and then was poor (by his high standars) for his last two seasons.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I have to disagree with that.
Scholes' blurred vision kept him out of the 2nd half of the 2005/06 season. He had 2 arguably 3 very good seasons after he returned from that eye injury and even up until he retired, he still had his moments although granted he wasn't as consistent as he was in 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2009/10 in my opinion but he still made a good number of appearances and in his final season or two couldn't really be trusted to play in a 2 man midfield as you've said. In the end he became a liability because he just didn't have the legs to play 90 minutes anymore and I think after last seasons FA Cup semi-final he realised this.

What part of the ground were you sat in?

Yes he did. But he used to have these moments every game.
His last two seasons were not the Paul Scholes I want to remember.
From my seat, Giggs was fooking fantastic, no one came close except the Goalie!
