Keny... if you are Welsh or if you knew the guy or if he played for your club... probably.

I like everyone else was shocked by the death of the guy. i had the pleasure to see him play. great player... and great guy, by all accounts.

But for Celtic fans to give a minutes applause? C'mon. Reeks of the old 'Diana' effect. it's getting to be too much.

Leave these sorts of marks of respect to those they are relevant or pertinent too. That is NO disrespect to the guy.. his life... or his family. I just don't go in for wringing-of-hands, and all that.

No capital letter after a full stop? Mr smart ass.

What you lack in intelligence, you more than make up for in stupidity.

"Mr smart ass"

Didn't Dr Quimmy tell you that 'proper names' have capital letters?

"Not for all the tea in China,i'd rather die"

What about after commas?*

I would normally have written, 'what about after spaces after commas.'

After 7 minutes because he scored 7 goals for Wales?

Is it 2 minutes because he had 2 legs?

And you have to clap 42 times because he was 42.

It's funny how it's okay to mock some remembrances, but others mean that everyone must be kowtowed into universal gravitas.

You couldnae make it up, really.

Not showing up well in this one Ish...

There was a minutes silence for him between Man City and Liverpool at the weekend. Last time i checked he had played for neither of those clubs - was that too much as well?

Its called respect. If a crowd clapping is enough to show that and our support for the welsh players in the team who clearly knew him then I dont think thats too much to ask....

What will you be remembering, Shampoo?

Just pointing out the sheer and utter hypocrisy p!shy.

You, and many in this country, absolutely reek of it.

You can't dictate to people what/who they should show respect for. You being a liberal, progressive secular humanist should know that most of all.

Know?

So you can only have a tribute the day someone dies???

What about the next time Wales play? What about when leeds play? newcastle?

Should they not do it as it wasnt that day?

ooffttt..

The Diana 'mock' grief thing is a bit anachronistic too.

These public displays actually DO mean something on an anthropological level. Can't dismiss them so lightly.

I mean. Are flowers at a roadside 'too much'. What about fitbaw tops over railings at death scenes.

but 7 minutes because he scored seven times is really a bit sickly
---------
Surely the timing is irrelevant and its the mark of respect that matters - or am I missing something here?

Would you not be happy if the friendly tonight was at Ibrox and they observed a minutes silence before the game?

He played for them. They might have reason.

What reason do Celtic fans have? other than mock grief?

Anyhoos, Taffy.... you clap away.... get tore in.... get the person next to you to pat you on the back, if you like. Rest your head on the shoulder of the person in front and sob uncontrollably.... it means not a jot to me. Whatever salves your own personal grief.

Absolutely. I gag every time I see that. Repulsive gestures, by absolute strangers mostly. Samr people probably wrote on their 'social networking' sites, when that bint from Big Brother died, "Wiv de angels now. Sleep well Princess", and such guff. <boak>

Aye zach, I know what you mean. But Celtic have had a long tradition of doing this kind of thing. I was at the Hillsborough memorial, Celtic were the first club to offer Liverpool a tribute game. So there is something there in 'the Celtic family' (go on, how cloying is that!)

P!shy, open a book, if you want to keep up your hard-won pseudo-intellectual reputation on these boards.
