Anyhoos, Taffy.... you clap away.... get tore in.... get the person next to you to pat you on the back, if you like. Rest your head on the shoulder of the person in front and sob uncontrollably.... it means not a jot to me. Whatever salves your own personal grief.

Well done Ishhy. Your comments show more about you that anything i could say...
I say respect you want fawning tears and grown men crying.
Zach - when Stein died in 85 there was a minutes silence from the welsh FA and the English FA at the games. Now i would hardly suggest that was a 'look at me exercise' either.
The fact is if a tribute is planned - not saying it is or isnt I dont know - then people clapping to remember a footballer who was known as a all round good professional isnt exactly overkill on the emotional stakes is it?
Seems to be that you guys think it is....
OK, Shampoo... I've opened a book... and all it says is, "Whit!!!!"
P!shy
If there's a missing 's' in that title you might have a book on card tricks in front of you.
Taffy... we are talking about a nonsense being organised by t1ts on social networking sites, and, yes.. it absolutely IS about 'look at us! look at us!'..
I won't say anything more on the matter on here out of respect for the guy... suffice to say.... steam in Bhhhhouyz.... whatever rocks your boat and makes you feel loved.

"whatever rocks your boat and makes you feel loved."
And here we have the root of his ire. Talk about completely missing the point.
"But Celtic have had a long tradition of doing this kind of thing. I was at the Hillsborough memorial, Celtic were the first club to offer Liverpool a tribute game. So there is something there in 'the Celtic family'"
Pffft

You just MADE the point... see above.
<boak>
Right you are lads, so clearly respect = mock grief....
Next time there is a minutes applause planned at a football ground we will double check with you that we are ok to participate without the 'look at us' tags being recalled...
Aye, nae bother p!shy. I take it you think Remembrance Sunday is one big boak-fest as well.
I mean, given your logic, it would appear that this would be an acceptable thing.

Oh and btw Ish - this coming from a club that brands the club captains football strip "Congratulations to William and Kate on their wedding"
Glass houses and all that...
Or a club that parades soldiers at half time in the middle of a recession when there's a war on and there are thousands of impressionable youngsters in the crowd.
Prove if needed that the divide is alive and well...
"That milks white"
"Naw it's no"

What???
Aye... that is mock grief, right enough.
Us fans planned to applaud at 3.27 as well. That was the time when he asked her to marry him.

Actually milk is only white because light is refracted by the globules of fat suspended in the clear liquid. Milk is an emulsion.
very strange idea,a lot of celtic fans will know nothing of gary speed other than he used to play football in england and was wales manager
would make sense if he was a former celtic player,or had some sort of connection to celtic or even scotland
an applause or silence before kick off is the way it should be done if at all
how many celtic fans have died in the past few days?
they won't be getting special remembrance after a certain amount of minutes
i can understand newcastle, leeds etc fans going out of their way to do a tribute like that but celtic fans?
dosen't make sense
you enjoy yourselves anyway
I'm actually glad that some people are not toeing the party line on this.
My wife's cousin has a wife and two young kids. Last Tuesday night he went to work and was hit by a speeding car as he crossed the road. His funeral is later today. I grieve for a man who had his life taken away from him, for a young wife who has lost a husband, and for two children under the age of 8 who have lost a father.
I am heart sorry for Speed's family and what they are going through. But I am not going to acknowledge a man who CHOSE to leave a wife whithout a husband, and CHOSE to leave two kids without a dad. I, for one, will not mourn for Gary Speed - and I totally agree with everyone on here who thinks that this is going just a bit too far.
Stevie... sad news, mate. When the news filtered through about Speed, I like many (in fact.. I think I was the first to respond to the news being posted) was shocked and saddened. Just because someone takes their own life it does not mean they deserve any less respect or sympathy. it may even be argued that they deserve more sympathy.
Both your own story and Speeds are tragic. Young families having to come to terms with grief. Life's a biitch.
Let people do what they want.
Show respect, or not. Just like the poppy, eh lads? Aye righto.
There'll be two Welsh lads playing for us on Wednesday night.
Alba_Stevie - suicide is tragic.

Go crawl back under your rock, you horrible little person. A good rule of thumb is don't talk about things you don't remotely understand - depression and suicidal thoughts take that choice away from you. It is an illness. Saying he "choose" to leave two kids without a dad is no less flucking stupid than saying my gran "choose" to die of cancer.
Anyway, you've totally missed the point. Some people are suggesting celtic fans paying tribute to Gary Speed is a bit over the top because he had no connection to celtic, Glasgow or Scotland. Nothing to do with whether some who commits suicide deserves grieving.
