Blimey cas, that's a heck of an article.
One point you gloss over tho' is last season we had 32 pts after 21 games, this season we have 38 pts from 19 games, which should be at least 42 pts after 21 games...10 pts better than last season....
So we launch into the next 25 games 10 pts better off than last year.
I agree about the unbeaten run, it was a means to an end, not an end in its own right, and I'm glad is over to be honest.
Wins is what we need now, we can afford to lose 6 or 7 games provided we get those 18 or so wins between now and the end of the season. I don't care how we do it, who we do it against, who or how we score the goals...we have to accumulate 92/3 points, minimum.
There is still a nagging doubt in my mind that LC has 'peaked'..and this is as good as he can do...but I won't go there again.
After losing to Southampton 4-1 we showed 'bouncebackability' last year, lets hope LC and his staff can do the same this year and with the advantage of 10 more points than last year surely we'll get the required number of points this time round .
Onwards and Upwards
Clark out - Useless & tatically inept
Cas,
Of course we are in a far better position than last season when we were averaging only 1.52 points/games, against our currnet average of bang on on 2 points/game, which is an improvement of over 30%, and if we contimue in this vein we will end up with 92 points and guaranteed promotion.
As for your assertion that Lee Clark has 4 games to save his job, this is the most laughable comment I think you've ever come out with.
Please tell me of any other Chairman (even one with half a brain) who would even contemplate sacking his manager immediately after completing a 43 match unbeaten run, plus one who was also averaging exactly 2 points/game in the current season.
In Lee Clark I Trust.
"tatically" its an Irish super veg a cross between a potato and a cauliflower.
Great thread Cas btw
Mirf - 92 points might not guarantee promotion !
Great, great article Cas mate and no doubt one you have had bubbling under the surface for some time now.
Let's see how the team bounce back shall we. Like you say we have 3 home games and a gome down't road at Wednesday to negotiate over the month of December. Let's look at a minimum 10 points over these games to see how serious promotion contenders we really are.
mirf..
the current average wont get us up, because charlton and wendies will be above us if they continue their current average..
or are we accepting the fact that 3rd place will "do again"???
working on the average, becomes just that mirf "average"...
we are third again.. mirf, you could be said to be whats wrong with the country.. bronze will do, we were fighting losers!!!!
I cant afford to have people who do "just enough" and minor progressions, whilst the opposition are making faster and better progression, do you really think dean hoyle can???
43 game unbeaten run, we got a plaque!!!!!!! i dont care if we dont get promotion, lee can take it with him...
Yesterday was a re run of the play off final, big game against a big rival on sky needed to win and show the watching public how good we are, we even played the same shiiite had loads of the ball passed it a bit and has soon has we got near the box nothing happened it just went back to them ,like i said re run of old travared, so its 2 giant steps back...... not good anough..
not only do we need 12points out of the next 4 games but we need teams around us to drop points. Can you see that happening?
Mirf, the 4 games to save his job is purely my opinion, I don't believe in a million years that Dean will share it, but if I was in his position I would seriously be considering whether the investment I'd made in Clark had been worthwhile so far.
You raise a valid point in that we have a better points per game ratio than last season, but you fail to realise that so do our rivals. In fact once again their are 2 teams who have amassed more points than us, and should we all continue in this form as you presume Town will, that will mean the playoffs yet again.
Does that equal success to you? At no point during this unbeaten run have we looked to be firmly in front of our rivals, 2 teams bettered us last season and so far this season 2 other teams are bettering us. You might be happy with a lifetime of "close but not quite" but I'm not, I actually want success.
And why did our shots turn into crosses and our crosses turn into shots anyone notice that? Were a joke
running terrier..
yes, both wendies and charlton will drop points..neither are anywhere like the quality of saints and brighton last season..
we will always drop points...
the above is not to say the points tally for the promoted teams wont be higher than last season, it may well be..thats the standard of the league though, not the top 3 clubs..
the game last night wasnt a patch in quality as our games against brighton or saints last season, from either side..
all in all, this is the season, if we cant do it this year then god help us..
Considering we had our 'new' and strongest team out last night, it was not an impressive display, especially from a team which should be so full of confidence and in such a vital match. I expected more.
In fact, we don't look a class apart from anybody, we lumber and improvise in every game..we don't have a very good work ethic amongst the team either. Our wingers are not good enough when it come down to it, Roberts and Ward did not do what they were supposed to do.
LC has not improved the team, he has swapped players but the formula is still the same...and I'm worried that we just don't seem have that 'certain something' that brighton, norwich, southampton and charlton have..a driven will and belief amongst the team.
It could be another nail-biting season.
i was convinced we would raise our game as we usually do against the better teams and hammer charlton. still angry at the shower of sheit performance on display last night! i think if id not had a four pack of lager which relaxed and subdued me id have smashed my tv up.
Blimey, I thought our fans were severe!!!
There's still an awful long way to go and things are still very very tight, with the transfer window coming in January things will inevitably change amongst the top few clubs - though its hard to say how as yet.
Right now I thing that the only thing that matters for all clubs is to be there or there abouts
it was a drab affair tez..
nothing much happened..we have been doing quite well in games like that up to now..
i think clark was happy with nothing much going on.. a couple of poor goals given away was just to much to get back on a quiet night..
we didnt change anything until it had gone past the point of no return really..
the game just fizzled out to nothing in the end..very dissapointing when only anton showed any fight for it..
too many players just had total non events...
turn up see it how it goes..about sums it up really.. no great game plan, no great appetite for the game or to turn it into a fight if required.. nothing much at all really.. it became a bit like an end of season mid table game... pretty unforgiveable to be honest..
Last season we picked up 55 points from our last 27 matches and if we do likewise this term then we end up with 93 points.
As for Sheff Wed, I have a couple of mates who follow them and both reckon they are in a false position and will hit the buffers somewhere down the line and Charlton will also hit a sticky patch because all teams usually do, so for me promotion is nailed on for Town this season.
I'm make a promise to everyone - if we don't get promoted then I'll never post again on this forum.
If we don't go up this time, none of us will be posting...another failure is totally unacceptable and unthinkable.
I think Charlton got a few tough challenges in early on, without getting the yellow cards, and we basically bottled it thereafter. LC seem not to have the ability to instill motivation nor to make tactical changes necessary during a game. He's a slow learner and a slow thinker...and his twitchy touch line antics reveal how little calm he has to think clearly.
I know its only one game, but it's yet another revellation, as per P'bro, Millwall...that when it comes to the crunch, he simply does not have it.
Mirf, we need you on these forums, don't go anywhere!
16 points minimum frm next 6 games,
Hi there Huddersfield fans.
Seeing as your record is now over and you have nothing to be proud of in life.
Why not comment on the JA606 record thread and help us get to 100,000 comments?
Just because your record attempt failed miserably, doesn't mean ours should.

Whilst I think Wednesday have probably over achieved thus far I expect our second half of the season to be stronger, rather than weaker, than the first. The reason for this is we started with a team that had significantly changed since last season and took a little time to gel - as seen in defeats to the likes of Bury and Bournemouth.
Whilst the club is far from loaded I would expect some signings in January, these won't be funded (entirely at least) by Mandaric himself but rather by those who are saleable but surplus to requirements - specifically Mark Beevers, Clinton Morrison, Jermaine Johnson and Giles Coke. Consequently I think Wednesday will have an improved points tally in the second half of the season - thats the theory at least.
A number of you seem to have very exacting views as to what the Terriers should deliver - 10-12 points out of the next 12, 16 out of the next 18 etc - this seems very very high to me
some were of the opinion that brighton and saints would "hit the buffers" last season..
didnt happen..brighton had a poor march but were so far ahead by then it hardly mattered..
these are the same people who allow us to drop points this week because there is "always the next game", they never seem to get a grip of the fact that points lost can never be recovered they are gone..
no reason for us to go 43 games unbeaten, no reason to assume that clubs above us will falter.. its november and already charlton have to lose 3 games and us win 3 games to get back above them.. its not great, however you put it..
