I have a question, Mr Dimbleby. Instead of building schools and hospitals, surely that money could be better spent on building Tottenham a new stadium

No surprise that myhammers is against the building of schools!

Shelfside: I was alluding to the suggestion made in the past by a certain Tottenham fan that building a new stadium for Tottenham would be a better investment than building schools, hospitals etc.

ShelfSideSpur,

What myhammers is referring to is this, i suggested/confirmed that building a school or hospital from Govt funding is not a one off investment, but a life time investment. You cant just build a hospital or school & then expect free equipment & get surgeons, doctors & nurses to work for free. myhammers thought this would be the case.

Whereas, if the Govt gave money to a football club, this would not only allow "the trickle effect" into the economy, but it would simply be a one-off payment, as Spurs would not get public money to pay for staff, equipment, overheads or anything else to do with the running of THFC Plc. ANother concept myhammers couldn't grasp.

myhammers thought that a hospital would be run as a Plc company, in the way that the running of it, by selling coffee from the vending machine & crisps from the tuck shop would allow the hospital (or school) to be a profit making business & boost the country's economy.

I hope thats cleared it up a bit.
