Torres perhaps? Didn't he take them for Liverpool? Goal tally may improve his confidence.

To be fair alot of penalties have been missed this season not just from Chelsea.

I know, but thats what separates us from the other teams! We shouldn't compromise!

Lampard hasn't been good at penalties for ages now. Drogba probably still has a good one but he'll be in and out the team. For me it'd be either Sturridge or Miereles. Both are confident and have a strong, accurate strike. I wouldn't want Mata because I could see him taking the short-run up, finesse shot approach which half our squad do - it doesn't work

Whatever you say.......?

@ The Stig

As much as I love Luiz, I wouldn't want a defender to take Pens at CFC! What sort of message would that send to the opposite team about our attackers???

Well who else do we have:

Drogba (mostly reliable from the spot, doesn't always play), Luiz (should be good but missed vs Genk), Anelka (iffy and never plays)...

Meanwhile, Mata, Torres and Sturridge never want to take them.

So its Luiz then.

It is not obvious too me who our best penalty taker is.

Lampard today looked very nervous stepping up although it was a good save by the keeper.

I think I would go for Drogba as the penalty taker or Sturridge.

I think wanting to take a pen often affects its success rate as it psychologically puts you in a more asseritve and superior position.

So if Lamps or Drogs aren;t playing (face it they will reamin the top 2 pen takers under AVB), then their should be a discussion over who wants it. If Sutrridge or Torres are being standoffidh, then I see no reason why Luiz or Meireles shouldn;t take it if they want to.

Age doesn't make you a bad penalty taker, just look at Graham Alexander.

Lets not forget Lampard has the record for the most consecutive penalties in the premier league. He can get it back, he's just having a crisis of confidence that's affecting his whole game.

But he's been pretty poor at penalties for ages now, not just this season. 6 out of his last 14/15 penalties missed

Well said Revoltution but I stil think we need to move on from Lampard now. His corner kicks are not that good, his freekicks and he's missing penalties now.

One thing Ive noticed about Lampard and Mata is when Lampard passes the ball, his first instinct is to run into the box and wait for a cross from the person he passes the ball to. some of the time, it doesnt work because the reciever loses possession, he cant get the cross in, it gets cut out and we're a man down in midfield and lampard is out of position

Mata passes the ball and then more often than not, he goes out and helps the player he passed it too and tries to help him out. ie his first instinct is not to go and get into the box to get on the end of a cross but to help keep possession of the ball.

Mata wants the ball and draws himself to the ball at every opportunity, Lampard does the opposite.

Thats the difference between English and Spanish players

lampard has been a magnificent player for us over the years, and doesn't deserve any flak, even if his form has dropped.

but in my books, getting 6 goals from midfield at this stage is a good haul

Drogba

Lampard really started the game well today, but after the penalty miss he just got worse and in the end he struggled to keep up with the pace.

AVB was right to take him off and Miereles was simply superb when he came on.

Torres or Drogba(depending on who is on the pitch) should take them.
