We wont be signing him as our new, first choice, world-class midfielder. With Scholes and Gibson leaving, he will just be another midfielder to rotate with Carrick, Anderson, and Fletcher. £10mil nowadays is peanuts for a 25 year old who was in for player of the season last year.

Plus I'm sure he could improve his game while at United. Valencia scored 6 goals and 9 assists in 2 seasons at Wigan where he featured in almost every league game for them. In his first season with us he matched that stat in less than half the minutes.

Considering we scored about 2 free kicks and maybe 3 goals from corner kicks last season, Charlie Adam would improve us if he was only bought for his set pieces. He wont be starting against Chelsea or Barca but he could be vital in some difficult away games against bottom half teams.

Plus this is a guy who needs to be a focal point of a team. Check him out at rangers. He flopped for them fgs.

That is actually a good point, never really took that into consideration. But I still think he'd be a good squad player.

Look at how many goals Chelsea got last season from set pieces. They've been scoring around 30% of their goals from corners and free kicks for years now, and it's part of the reason they are a top team. There were multiple games last season where they'd win 2-0 and both goals came from corners. Compare that to United, who score almost all our goals from open play. If we could start converting corners or free kicks into goals, it would give us an extra 10-15 points a season.
