Ba scored 2 for your feeder club.
agreed but who? i dont think its carrol's fault, people moan if he does no close down, but a poacher will sit on the defenders should and do what he is supposed to do.
Torres did the same but people moaned he was lazy but only when he was not scoring, which is it we want?
i thik a carrol for torres could be on lol he would have 10 goals for us by now.
I'd be interested to see why Carroll doesn't play on the shoulder and in that 'poacher' role. It's not always about speed, look at Mario Gomez, for example.
I think kenny wants the TEAM closing down, so they do then the strikers drop deep for the ball and end up lacking energy hence the second half, after the goal we sat back and let QPR pressure us.
Ian Rush used to close down and score goals.
great he is an ideal player for us! lets buy him!

--------------
Cos Carroll is not a poacher, he is a target man who holds the ball up to bring others into play, wins headers and physical battles both defensively and offensively, and chips in with some goals every now and again
That's his role, unfortunately with his inflated price tag, people think he is supposed to be getting 20 plus goals a season, he's not, and he won't.
We do need someone who can put the ball away, a Hernandez type player who is quick and hard to mark due to his quick reactions.
Michael Owen used to do it for us and, while these players are rarer these days, I think we need one to suit our style of play.
In the meantime I really hope we play Maxi there for now as he's the closest thing to a poacher we've got right now!
I hope we bid for Moussa Sow in January, Lille have been dumped out of the CL and he has 29 goals in 48 games. Perhaps Joe can put in a word.
agreed maxi was always in and around the box and has a tendancy for being in the right place, also links up well with Suarez.
If we could just put a young Fowler in there we'd be scoring loads, one can dream.
Dare I say bring back Torres... I reckon Chelsea would probably sell him? (Also can you imagine Torres alongside Suarez... oh and a returning Gerrard)
Carroll cost too much for you not to keep the faith with him for a fair few seasons at least now. He'll improve, but I don't see him ever being a top top striker, nor a starter for England if we hold real ambitions of being a world force and embracing a new style of play. Potentially though, he could have a great partnership with Suarez, if you can keep hold of him long enough. On purely footballing terms, a lot of the worlds top clubs would have him.

We'll take him for 5m and he'll be class again, and then sell him on again after a year for another 50m to Man City where he'll be rotten again like at Chelsea!!
Torres is a good cash cow for us!

Yeah every team can do with the option of having a big forward to bring on for certain matches, especially in the physical Premier League!
I don’t think our goal scoring problem will be solved by a goal poacher. It is the way we play. We need to play as a team specially in the final area. Everyone wants to score a goal. That exchange passes between Suarez and Maxi which led to a good save from QPR keeper was a good example of what we need. This is the way we should be playing. Also if you look at MU goals today then you will realise what we miss from our strikers. Their first two goals came from shots from outside the box from Rooney and Nani. You will never see that from Suarez, Kuyt or Carroll. Kuyt always scuffs his shots. Van Persie scored a fabulous goal and not a tap in. We miss Gerrard’s and Alonso’s’ long range shots. It always difficult to score the first goal from a tap in when playing against a team defending with 9 or 10 players like today. The first goal is always important. Most of the times it comes from long range shots or set pieces play.

Yep it's very true it is hard to find the space, but I bet you someone like Hernandez would do so and put the chances away, we need someone with the quick reactions like him.
Maxi and Suarez can create so much out of nothing, and we have countless players who are good at quick one touch passing, but we need someone with those striking instincts to get into a good position and put the chances the likes of Suarez and Maxi are able to create.
So, I guess I disagree Zabi, we do need a poacher, but I can see your point.
Did Carroll get on the pitch yesterday?
Elvis..
What are Berbatov's chances for replacing Hernandez. Surely, he should be playing now.
