Let's not get carried away here as it was Bangladesh Robin. If he performs against England the maybe he might have a bright future.
Lool, but he does look good from what I've seen. I hope he's given a chance vs england, akmal & malik both got their chances in 2010
england will bounce him out.
there will be a place soon enough for umar akmal. he just has to show that steadiness for a few months.
who to drop? taufeeq umar
why drop taufeeq? if its because he bats slowly then by that rasoning Boycott, Barrington, Trott etc would never had survived. plus he has a good partnershop with hafeez, who i think is a brilliant allrounder. keep Taufeeq
taufeeq is poor rather than bats slowly. that doesn't help but you can't have an opener going at 30 runs per 100 balls and expect to win many test matches against decent opposition.
he has poor technique and gives too many chances.
Taufeeq is very suspect when the ball swings away from the off stump and this is somewhere Jimmy can get joy. I'm sure England will target that area for him and Hafeez who has a habit to play down to 3rd man but ends up nicking it to keeper or first slip.
yeah, i must admit im not a big fan of taufeeq either - ugly player to say the least... even when he was on 150 vs lanka he looked uncomfortable. He's guranteed to give england an early wicket. That said we havent got much of an option, who else could you slot into the opening position.
Shafiq - give him time, he'll do well. Much more technique and ability.
saw highlights of his hundred & shafiq is very vulnerable against the short ball.
whoever wants taufeeq out will have to accept farhat coming in. I think ill stick to taufeeq
