I don't know about anyone else, but i would find that hilarious. Both Manchester teams knocked out of the CL but would still trump Arsenal and Chelsea for TV coverage.

Not biased at all our media.

you can imagine the draw

Arsenal v AC Milan, Chelsea v Napoli

and Man U v FC Metalist Kharkiv

and Man U get the live game......

City of Manchester flexing its broadcasting muscles again?

Have they no class? The companies making exceptions for the failures? Where is the equality here?

They will show what matches they believe will draw the greatest audience. It's not rocket science. If they showed united ahead of arsenal or Chelsea it's because more people want to watch them.

Besides, united or city could conceivably win the channel 5 cup. There is no chance of arsenal winning the champions league - And you know it! So please just ditch the conspiracy theories. You haven't even researched this. Were united or city to be moved to the Tuesday, the kick off time would NOT clash with champions league. So this poor article is now redundant.

Just move one of them to Friday or bring one of their kick offs back to mid day on Thursday. Problem solved.

Also if anybody actually thinks Sky or ITV are going to show a Europa League match over a Champions League match then think again, so if they really want to play on Teusday, let them, more LAMing for me

Did you not bother to read the article you refer to??

Manchester United or City could find their Europa Cup ties switched to Tuesday AFTERNOON. Not evening, afternoon. 5.45 KO.

As if ITV would show a Europa Cup game ahead of a Champions League game.

And at the arrogant Mancs who actually believe ITV would show them in the Europa ahead of Londons finest in the CL.

Itv would show what ever match they believe would draw the biggest ratings. And Londons finest aren't in the champions league this year! They've been playing in the Thursday night cup where all the big clubs play!

Captain Captain,

Don't be such an arrogant fool to believe yourself.

Londons finest in the Europa Cup?? Fulham are a decent enough side, but definitely not Londons finest.

I am stating simple facts. Look at the carling cup quarter finals. Chelsea v Liverpool would be considered a better game on paper than united v palace. But what game was shown? Was this a conspiracy to annoy everyone? You probably believe that but it was shown simply because there were likely to be more viewers for that game. Now please, refrain from childish namecalling and accept that tv bosses will try to show the event that would generate most viewers! To say otherwise is just wrong.

It is wrong.

Firstly, as I pointed out earlier, the Europa Cup games will not be on at the same time as a Champions League tie.
The Europa Cup game will be at 5.45 if it is on a Tuesday.

Secondly, ITV paid a lot of money for the Champions League. Are you really that arrogant to think they will show a Europa cup game instead??

The reason, believe it or not, that Sky showed the Palace game is because of the underdogs v the big Premiership team status of the match. Sky were looking for a shock (rather than a reserve team fixture between Liverpool and Chelsea) and they got it!!

I am aware that such a clash won't happen. In fact, I'm fairly sure that i was the first person to point it out on this very thread! But they will always show the match that they believe will draw most, ratings, given the free choice. They wouldn't be doing their job otherwise and there is nothing arrogant about stating the obvious!

captain captain, by this theorum, they would show every Manchester United cup game.
This does not happen. Thus one can conclude that you are indeed arrogant to believe they would show a game from the second-rate, embarrassed to be in, competiton ahead of a Champions League game.

Because both teams are seeded as CL loosers, they get first tie at home. That is where the problem over the 30 mile limit comes in, one or the other needs to play away first to avoid moving the fixture to tuesday. Toss a coin or should the loosers of the FA cup game play away first?
